Early this morning, multiple earthquakes rocked Turkey and northern Syria, the worst natural disaster there in decades.
An estimated 2,500 people have died so far. Thousands have been displaced from their homes. Many more are missing, injured or feared dead.
To make matters worse, the epicenter of the earthquake is home to many refugees and internally displaced people who already lacked the resources and infrastructure to respond to such emergencies –especially in the middle of winter.
Baitulmaal is on the ground in Gaziantep, Turkey as well as Urfa, Idlib and surrounding areas in northern Syria responding to this crisis.
A $5.35 million medical shipment is expected to arrive in Turkey within days, but emergency food, water, and winter supplies are being mobilized immediately.
Freezing amid rubble and tears, families impacted by the quakes need our compassion now.
