How does FST different from other stretch techniques? 🤔
FST uses gentle traction to stretch the joint capsule granting the client access to range of motion they have not had access to in some time.
FST is a gain without pain technique. When the body is in pain it puts up barriers towards progress. Less is more! The client should be feeling relaxed during there session vs. having to ask for a stick to bite down on.
FST is a technique that is in constant motion. The use of traction, circumduction, and oscillation are utilized while combined with varied tempos to obtain client goals.
We isolate the lower body one leg at time. This allows the client to relax the leg that is resting while the other leg is receiving FST.

Our glutes can become tight/sore for a variety of reasons. Oddly enough, they can be tight from sitting too much OR over use and over exertion.
Tight glutes can lead to other ailments, one of which is one of the biggest reasons people come in to see me; low back pain! Coming in to see me, we will go through a series of stretches and tests to see if your glutes are tight, if your neurons are firing correctly, and more!
Added bonus, this stretch feels amazing 😌

The stretch that makes you say, "ahhhh" 😌
06/12/2020
What would you give to be pain free??
Shown here is one of the more passive stretches done in a facial stretch session. It can alleviate tightness and lengthen the entire side of the body— relieving back and hip pain.
These are a few of the areas that are most “problematic” for people coming in to see me, and they almost always walk out feeing some degree better than when they walked in!

Through the use of fascial stretch techniques, we can improve range of motion through joints in a way that uses gentle traction to stretch the joint capsule granting the client access to range of motion they have not had access to in some time.

Teamwork makes the dream work 👊🏼
While I do guide you and perform much of he stretching during our sessions; some exercises require reaching or tilting in order for you to get the most from your session.
In this case, pressure applied into my hand followed by rest gives us the ability to intensify the stretch.

Finding LENGTH & SPACE is one of the best ways to describe what you will feel after a fascial stretch session. Does this sound like something your body needs??
Thought so 😉

People walk through my doors for all sorts of reasons..
🔹Injury Recovery
🔹Pain Relief
🔹Athletic Performance
🔹Flexibility
After one session, people generally feel light, relaxed, and at ease. After multiple sessions (and sometimes just one) they not only start to find that fascial stretch is the solution they were looking for, but they also see themselves reaping the benefits and getting more than what they originally bargained for! 👍🏼
Coming in for general pain relief, let’s say of the low back region, clients will feel this “opening” of the body and fascia that not only grants them less pain, but also brings on greater flexibility, AND on top of that, a heightened athletic performance. 🙌🏼
The benefits of stretch really do all go hand in hand, a two for one (or three.. or four...) your body will be thankful for!
Comment down below what you are looking for out of a stretch, and I’ll see if I can help! 😜

What do y'all know about flexibility?? 🤔
.
Flexibility is one of the major parts of fitness. It is defined as the range of motion of your joints or the ability of your joints to move freely. It also refers to the mobility of your muscles, which allows for more movement around the joints. Range of motion is the distance and direction your joints can move, while mobility is the ability to move without restriction.
.
So how does all of this make you "fit"?? It allows for better performance when during athletic competitions, exercising, and during your day-to-day activities. Greater flexibility makes bending, walking, and lifting easier.
.
Without adequate flexibility, daily activities such as getting out of bed, lifting a child, or squatting to pick something up can become more difficult to do. In addition, INADEQUATE flexibility can affect your athletic performance by preventing you from reaching the full potential, strength, and power of your muscles. 💪

THE PHYSIOLOGY OF FLEXIBILITY 👀
Flexibility refers to the range of movement and mobility around a joint (basically how far a body part can move around this joint). Range of motion is dependent on muscle bulk, the surrounding tissue, the structure of the joint, skin, and muscle length. Stretching applies to any activity which lengthens the muscle and tendon fibres.
We now know how stretching works, but the question exists, WHY STRETCH? It is not sufficient to simply know that stretching is good for you-- that knowledge alone does not provide the motivation to begin and maintain a flexibility program.
Let us first explore flexibility in a FUNCTIONAL sense, for in reality, it doesn’t matter if you can touch your toes, what matters is flexibility’s effect on your quality and quantity of life. A good example can be something as simple as changing lanes in the car. Turning to check the blind spot can be a monumental task with poor neck and upper back flexibility. Basic tasks like this can be made simple with improvements in flexibility. This is just an example of one of a hundred times each day when flexibility can improve your quality of life, whether its feeling looser getting out of bed, picking up a pencil off the floor putting on a seat belt.
The benefits however don’t stop at functional improvements. Stay tuned this week for more on how increased flexibility can enhance your quality of life! 💫 💫

OUCH! Got Hip Pain?? 😩😩😩
This QL stretch is a great example of treating Hip Flexor pain at the SOURCE rather than automatically digging into your hip area with a lacrosse ball or foam roller.
However☝️this may not be the answer in every case. It is CRUCIAL to take a full history of your activity that may have lead to the pain. For example, hip flexor pain could come from explosive athletic movements OR could come from sitting more than usual. Two totally different histories requiring different treatments.
