Logging long miles on the road or trails🏃‍♀️🚴‍♀️??
➡️Here’s the thing: endurance training is amazing for heart health + mental strength, but it also cranks up cortisol, your body’s primary stress hormone.
➡️When cortisol stays high for too long, it can lead to:

In my early 40s, when my perimenopause symptoms first started, I wasn’t sure what was going on with my body!
🥴The brain fog, inability to sleep, constant fatigue, creeping weight gain, achy muscles + joints, & heart palpitations made me cranky & not much fun to be around some days.

✨As I began to dig into the science of what was happening in my body, for myself & for my clients, it became clear that the menopause transition is not just about hot flashes & skipped periods. It’s a transitional phase affecting our whole-body: the brain, bones, heart, metabolism, skin, gut, & more.

I’ve taken off from running for the past month. 🏃‍♀️While running is my stress relief & makes me feel energized, I’ve learned the hard way that NOT prioritizing recovery can bite you in the butt!
🔹Health & performance is not a straight path.
It’s a series of transitions offering a chance to learn, adapt & grow stronger - not just physically but mentally & emotionally too.
🔹It’s important to focus on the lessons you can learn from setbacks, & focus on the things that you CAN do instead of what you CANT!!

I’m curious 🧐 did you experience a sudden change in your body around your late 30s or early 40s?
🔹You were still eating & exercising the same but noticed you started to feel a little thicker around your waistline, maybe also in your legs and booty🍑 ?
🙋‍♀️I certainly did & it took me a while to determine why!
🔹Once we’re in perimenopause (starting in mid - late 30’s), the things we used to do like restricting calories, skimping on sleep, working out harder, drinking in excess, & living a high stress life seem to backfire on us.
🔹When I started noticing changes in my body & all the things that worked in the past no longer resulted in positive changes, I started researching why - which led to more courses in nutrition, peri + post-menopause, plus changes that helped improve my body composition & feel so much better!

🔹I started experiencing changes in body composition + noticing annoying symptoms of perimenopause after turning 40 & became obsessed with learning more & helping women in their 40s & beyond thrive through this transitional phase of life!
🔹In the past, this phase of life has been a taboo topic & viewed as an awful time for women.

Ladies, do any of you feel like being in your 40s is like trudging through a storm ⛈️??

At this phase in our lives:

1️⃣Our kids are going through puberty = HORMONAL roller-coaster!
2️⃣We’re going through perimenopause = HORMONAL roller-coaster!
3️⃣Our spouse/partner may be at the pinnacle of their career = HIGH stress!
4️⃣WE are in charge of managing our career +managing the household + managing finances + managing aging parents + managing schedules of our kids + managing our kids puberty & drama + managing our hormones and changing bodies +++++++ all the other things!

Is it just me or can you relate🙋‍♀️?

Sometimes it’s partly cloudy with a glimmer of sunshine & some days it’s like a crazy storm & you’re pounded with thunder & lightning.

I often hear from women, “As I’m getting older, my body is changing. I’m still exercising the same & eating healthy, but I seem to be softer around the middle!”
🔹I can relate as I also started to notice these changes in my early 40s.
🔹As an active female, it is important to adjust your training routine & nutrition as you age, starting in peri-menopause (mid - late 30s) in order to mitigate the annoying changes that can occur.
