I don’t post ANYTHING political, but I’m breaking my own rule for this one!!!!

🚨 URGENT!!🚨
Women’s rights to have medical freedom for their birthing choices is in jeopardy! There is a house bill being voted on THIS Sunday, April 28th to restrict the rights of midwives to practice here in Texas. This is prevent some midwives from having a job, it will prevent some women from seeking care or at least the care they desire. We need you to let these law makers know that we oppose this bill!

If you don’t know, my first baby was born via C-section. (Very unnecessary c-section, it was a doctors lack of waiting for the process of birth to happen, less than 10 hours of total labor and never at risk for complications). My second was a VBAC in a hospital with a man who was know in the birth community as being a Godsend. If I were with other care providers, I would potentially never have seen a birth in any other room other than an OR.
My last 2 babies were born at HOME with midwives! Again I would have never been given the chance to physically deliver my babies the way God created my body to do so if it weren’t for 1. The OB who was like a midwife in a doctors coat (and who’s own grandmother was a MIDWIFE!) and 2. The midwives that attended my births.

I want my daughters to have access to that level of care if that’s what they want. I don’t want them to have to experience an unnecessary c-section because that’s what we have access to. By removing access to quality holistic care all we are doing is hurting women, children and their rights.

This is a freedom of medical choice issue!

👏🏼 say it louder for all the moms and pediatricians in the back; the moms who are tired and who don’t want to have another appointment, and the pediatricians who have a big ego and formula company kick backs👏🏼👏🏼

I say it every time! Go see an IBCLC!!! I don’t care what your pediatrician, your OB, or *gasp* your midwife says, if it hurts or if it’s pinching but gets better over time; go see an IBCLC. It’s worth the extra appointments, it’s worth the extra money. Just do it!

I had a pediatrician who had NPs who were getting their IBCLC and they still never suggested a buccal release for my youngest daughter or body work (which she was screwed up muscularly for the first few months). They just wanted to label her as failure to thrive and try to pump and supplement with formula if needed (even though I was successful at breastfeeding 2 other kids for 2.5 years each, 5 years together with a month off in between). That should have been a red flag and I’m thankful I work in the birth world and knew enough to reach out to my friends and local AMAZING IBCLCs who helped us get to the root of the issue and we were successful at exclusively breastfeeding just shy of 3 years!

I know it’s been awhile since I posted, but I’m still here! 😊 I love my doula work and have no plans to stop. I don’t post a ton as I just enjoy being present with my clients and many don’t want me to post pictures which I respect and honor. But I’m still here doing my thing. I’m booked just about for the rest of the year and already booking for the beginning of next year.

Do to my family life and my other job as a travel planner, I have reduced how many birth clients I serve a month. So if you or you know people who need a doula, reach out. 🥰

Just wanted to make a post that I will be out of the office until June 20.
I’m excited that I have an opportunity to go on a mission trip to Africa to help serve some churches there, build some homes, and feed some kids.
I will respond to emails, messages and texts when I return. Thank you for your patience.

Another client served, a family made, and a placenta processed.

I love when clients trust the process, their birth team and just when they think they can’t any longer, they reach down deep and pull out everything they have and get their baby in their arms.

I love how each birth makes us as birth workers pull out different tools to help labor along and just when you think a tool probably won’t work at this point but why not try, it works beautifully!

And look at that gorgeous print! 😍

One thing I love about postpartum work is the verity of things that I can do to help out each individual family. This family needed the usual dishes and laundry but they really needed some healthy snacks for their toddler and mom to grab as well as play with the toddler while care providers were there for mom and little brother or while mom and little man took a nap. I get to serve each couple where ever they need it most. What do you think you could use some help with?

My husband and I are off on a cruise for the week while I finish my training on the ship. Yes! a doula training on a cruise ship! And team building excursions. Thanks to Dooli the Doula for organizing this whole trip and to Birth Boot Camp for supporting us training in a new fun way.

So all of that to say I am out of the office for the week and will respond to any correspondences when we get back.

Many know that I have offered postpartum Doula services and I love it! But I have decided to do more formal training and get insight from others in the industry to help make my services even better!
Thanks to Dooli the Doula for doing my training! We’re having a great time!

I love BUMC. It is a great hospital to have a baby if you need it or desire a hospital birth. I’ve loved getting to do so many births here over the years and it’s great for them to get to put on this amazing event so that we as doulas can help our mutual clients know what to expect and what the standards are here. Your care matters and we are here to make your experience better.

One thing I enjoy about my job is getting to help moms figure out how to feed their sweet babies and start the journey of breastfeeding.
This mom rocked her birth! She made hard decisions when her birth plan changed and had to trust the suggestions of her care providers and me. Then her body eased her baby out. Afterwards I got to gently guide her in latching her baby for a good nursing session.

Did you know that some doulas can help with breastfeeding?
