Here's an alternative approach to diets and meal plans

👉🏾If you've ever gone on a diet just to quit after a few weeks or months, or even days, I challenge you to try this…

Think about what you eat now and how you can make it better.

Everything we eat is either a carbohydrate, fat, protein or alcohol.

Your body needs carbs

Carbs are food such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Carbs are also white breads, cookies and pastries.

Choose more nutritious & filling carbs.

Your body needs protein.

You don't need to eat ALL protein, but your body needs it in moderation.

Protein is found in chicken, shrimp, egg whites and yogurt to name a few.

Your body needs fat.

Fat is more nutrient dense (and delicious) so it's easy to overeat. Fat is not the problem - overeating it is.

Fat is found in nuts, oils, avocado and whole eggs.

Don’t over complicate eating healthy.

You don’t need to weigh and measure everything or count out each nut you eat.

If you want to eat healthy for the rest of your life - and ditch the diet and meal plan train - start where you are and make it a little bit better.

Day by day, week by week, you'll make a lasting change.

We all know that protein is essential for the body, right?
What exactly does protein do and why is it especially important when we're training for muscle gains? 🧐

Protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of most tissues in the body, including muscle tissues. 🧬

When we exercise, our muscles are broken down and NEED PROTEIN TO REPAIR AND REBUILD. 💪🏾

That's why it's important to eat protein-rich foods whenever you're in a period of high-exertion workouts.

Here is a sequence of 5 meals for you to get at least 130g of protein! 🥩
*Measure out the cashews cause they are high in protein & fat so the calories will be higher than the other options!

Need a Healthy Meal Prep Idea for tonight?🔥

Southwest Stuffed Red Peppers 🌶

-6 oz extra lean ground turkey or non meat crumbles
-1 Bell Pepper- Tops removed and diced
-¼ cup yellow onion diced
-1 tsp minced garlic
-1/4 c drained diced tomatoes w/o added salt
-4 cup chopped mushrooms 🍄
-¼ cup black beans (or your favorite type of beans)
*To make more than one, simply multiply the ingredients by the desired number of people

Turn on oven to 350F.
Prepare a glass baking dish with a little coconut or olive oil.

Remove the top of the pepper by cutting around stem and remove seeds- chop up the top to be used as part of the ingredients. Use a skillet to brown extra lean ground turkey and cook until there is no pink left. Add diced pepper tops, onion, garlic, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms and saute until peppers are crisp tender. Add Meat mixture back into pan and heat through. Scoop equal amounts into the pepper.
Bake for about 25 min, then serve with 1 dollop of non fat plain greek yogurt on top (optional)

Calories: 322*
Carbs: 17g
Fat: 5g
Protein: 46g
Sugar: 14g

The TRUTH about Tracking!

‼️Tracking macros for a period of time isn't obsessive & doesn't have to be restrictive either‼️

Tracking is a temporary tool to make sure you're eating enough, improve your relationship with food & spend less time guessing & help you reach your goal faster!

🤦🏾‍♀️ I still hear macro tracking getting a bad wrap.⁣

They've called it unsustainable.⁣

They’ve said weighing & tracking your food is neurotic/obsessive.

I can see how doing that every day for the rest of your life can be a bit much, yet understand that tracking isn't meant to be a forever thing.⁣

It’s a tool you use for a period of time to gain awareness around your current eating habits and what adjustments you need to make to make progress.⁣

I know plenty of people who've done it for years and aren’t bothered by it because they like the structure. I'm one of those people🙋🏾‍♀️

They've gotten to the point where they can be flexible with it and won't freak out if they don’t have access to a food scale or My Fitness Pal goes down.⁣

Macro tracking truly is a mindset, and when you can view it from the standpoint of the value it can bring to your life, it doesn’t seem so obsessive.⁣

Answer me this.⁣

How is tracking macros or counting your calories & protein worse than some of the BS nutrition advice that’s out there:

❌Cut out entire food groups⁣
❌Drink nothing but juice for days
❌Demonize foods and feel guilty for eating them⁣
❌Live on fewer calories than your body needs & be resentful that your body "isn't responding" to your "Clean eating"🤦🏾‍♀️

It's not.

You can use it as a way to lose weight in a sustainable way, but it can help with so much more than that.⁣

It's the thing that allowed me to overcome my disordered relationship with food. To go from just tracking my calories & looking the same as well as eating mostly packaged healthy choice meals to including all foods in my diet without guilt.

When I saw I could get the results I desired while eating what I loved, I knew I’d never have to fall for another fad again.⁣

Tracking ensures you're eating enough. Most people have little awareness when it comes to their nutrition.

Think you're eating enough protein? I bet if you track for a few days you'd be shocked at how far off you are.🥴

Tracking is a great way to collapse time. If fat loss is the goal, you want to get in and out of a deficit as fast as possible. Tracking takes away the guessing game so you can be more accurate and get to your goal faster.

Remember, it's a short term tool, not a life sentence.

A definite game changer for me.

I know what you’re probably thinking.⁣

This isn’t working!⁣

Time to drop my calories!⁣

or

Better start adding more exercise!⁣

❌❌❌

No, no no.⁣

Before you even think about doing any of that, you have to get honest with yourself.⁣

Do you KNOW with certainty you’ve been AT LEAST 80% consistent with your nutrition and workouts the past few weeks?⁣

No?

Ummmm... I’m sorry, but you have:⁣

❌ No LEGIT reason to be upset about your lack of progress. ⁣
❌ No reason make any adjustments to what you’re currently doing.⁣

Unpopular TRUTH: you ou haven’t put in the honest effort required to know for sure if what you’re doing will work.🤷🏾‍♀️

If you set your calorie deficit at 1700 to start, but you’re going over that amount multiple times weekly, do you really think you'll be able to stick with to 1500 calories consistently?

If you STRUGGLE to hit 5,000 steps daily, do you think you're gonna make it to the gym for another workout?⁣

Probably not.⁣

👉🏾The goal should alway be to eat as much as you can WHILE doing the minimum workout wise to still make progress.⁣

Turn it around by....

Getting consistent with executing your current plan EXACTLY as it’s laid out for at least a few weeks.⁣ Stop modifying things without sound reason🤦🏾‍♀️.

Nail you’re nutrition. Hit 8-10,000 steps a day. Lift weights 3-5 times a week. Manage your stress and get enough sleep.⁣ Drink ½ of your bodyweight in ounces of water daily.

If after doing that for a while, you’re still not seeing a change in scale weight, measurements, comparison pics or how your clothes fit, only then, should you consider an adjustment.

Either by dropping calories or increasing your movement slightly.

Until then, don't make the process harder on yourself than it needs to be.

💥Build self trust and confidence of doing the minimum first and then add more if needed.
