We are so excited, honored and humbled to have been named Mom Approved by DFW Child Magazine! We love what we do and are so inspired by our families! We appreciate your support moms and dads, thank you! Come check out our temporary, outdoor Covid-mindful setting for all of your pediatric OT and PT needs!

[03/23/20]   To the patients, family, friends, and supporters of Therapeutic Movements:

We are thinking of all of you and our community during this difficult time. We are hoping everyone is currently well and staying safe. In light of progressing individual and public health concerns, we cannot deliver in-person therapy sessions at this time. Our number one priority needs to be the overall health and well-being of our patients, staff and families. As a small business, (like many small businesses) we have already been and will continue to be affected economically by this global pandemic. We know that many of you will be as well, and our hearts go out to you. We are doing all that we can to adapt and to continue serving our patients, their families, and our community and to provide ongoing care now and in the future. We are initiating teletherapy services this week, starting Monday March 23rd. We will do so through a telehealth platform called Clocktree. This is new and I must say somewhat intimidating for all of us. As therapists, we are used to being hands-on and face-to-face to physically manipulate, inspire, and motivate our kiddos. We invite you to be our partner in figuring out the best ways for us to support your child. We ask for your feedback and patience as this unique way of delivering therapy services evolves. We will work hard to bring innovative therapy ideas, high energy, creativity, emotional support, and motivation to our virtual sessions. We realize that this may not be the most ideal delivery of therapy services, but we do believe it is the safest. We also realize that some children may not be candidates for teletherapy. We will collaborate with those families to place your child on hold during this time, but will continue to answer your questions as things arise for you. Family, school, and work life 24/7 under the same roof is going to be challenging for all of us. That can be made even more challenging by having a special needs child or a child with learning differences. We want to support our families on this journey and continue to live our purpose of supporting children with special needs and learning differences. Let us partner with you to adapt therapy goals to support your family's new normal. I believe we will all get through this by working together and will eventually emerge with new values, skills, patience, and peace.

Below we have listed reasons for us moving to teletherapy and answers to questions we foresee you having:

1.) Teletherapy optimizes safety and reduces risk of exposure to COVID-19 since it is in compliance with social distancing recommendations by allowing patient and provider to participate from separate locations.
2.) You and your child will still have one-on-one time with your scheduled provider to be evaluated, ask questions, and receive necessary intervention and recommendations similar to an in-person appointment. You and your provider will be able to see each other and talk to each other via synchronous video.
3.) The technology is HIPAA-certified and keeps you/your child’s medical information protected.
4.) You can plan your visit around your schedule during the day without having to spend time traveling to-and-from the clinic or sitting in the waiting room.
5.) Your therapist can make personal recommendations on home exercise program activities, go through home-safe workouts with your child, and make sure to maintain the important amount of exercise/therapy at home while school is out.
6.) Your OT can assist your child with attention during academic based tasks, assist with games for fine motor, help your child practice handwriting, self-care skills, room and home organization (think sorting toys and learning to fold clothes), and play games for problem solving, sequencing, and other cognitive skills.
6.) Teletherapy visits will be billed to insurance just as normal visits to our clinic, with the only difference being modifiers for the insurance companies to know the visit was “remote”. The patient responsibility should be the same. However, all co-pays will be waived for our families at this time.

Therapists of current patients will be reaching out to each of you to get your feedback, answer your questions, help you get set up on Clocktree and get you scheduled. You can always contact me as well to answer questions and for support.

We would love any referrals to friends you know that could use support as well!

Peace, love, and good handwashing,
Dalton

[03/19/20]   To current and prospective families:

We realize these are tough times for all for many reasons. Currently, your child may not be able to receive in-person therapy services, and we have been doing research on other means that will meet their needs. After looking into telehealth, we are now in the process of temporarily transitioning into a virtual delivery of services. These sessions would be completely secure, HIPAA compliant, and covered by insurance. We appreciate your collaboration throughout your child’s journey with us and would love to continue working with them during these unusual circumstances. We believe that although this may be a little unconventional, and not the most ideal delivery of services, your child would still benefit from receiving therapeutic interactions, exercises, and activities while continuing with progress toward their goals.

Some patients may still best benefit from direct, in-person, hands-on therapy sessions. We are evaluating these on a case-by-case basis. As a result, our clinic is currently still open, and we are restricting the individuals in and out of that space at this time. We are taking extreme precautions and sanitizing everything. We are also able and willing to make some in-home visits on a case-by-case basis. We are encouraging the majority of our patients receive teletherapy at this time. We will be reaching out to all individual current families, and will send invitations to our teletherapy platform, Clocktree, for you to join. If you are a former patient and would like to consider coming back on this new platform at this time, or you are a new family interested in pursuing services that your family never had the time for in the past, please contact us at 214-484-2588 or 214-212-3048. We would love to hear from you!

Stay strong, healthy and positive, and we will hopefully see the other side of this soon.

[03/15/20]   We have been monitoring the current public health issues regarding COVID 19. We are disappointed to say that we are canceling the fun day camps we had scheduled for next week. We are following guidelines from the CDC regarding social distancing and being mindful of the well-being of our patients. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience to everyone that had signed up. We appreciate your support and look forward to fun camps ahead.

In addition, we are making some adjustments to therapy services as well.

We have enhanced our cleaning practices and the ball pit will be closed at this time. We are staggering appointments to limit exposure between patients.

We ask that appointments be rescheduled for a later date for individuals with a history of respiratory illness or immunodeficiency. We ask that individuals with family members living in the home that have traveled to level 1 or 2 countries please reschedule after at least 2 weeks. If a patient or a family member exhibits any flu-like symptoms, we ask that appointments be canceled until individuals are asymptotic for at least 1 week. We ask that caregivers in attendance are limited and not hang out in the waiting room space at this time.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will follow the recommendations of the CDC and local public health officials.

Please reach out to our clinic or your therapist if you have questions regarding your child and whether your child should receive therapy during this time.

We truly hope for patience, consideration, and the well-being of all of our patients, staff, families, community, country, and world. Peace and love and stay well!

LOOKING FOR YOUR INPUT!!!

WOULD YOUR KIDS ENJOY A CREATIVE SOCIAL SKILLS OPPORTUNITY??? HELP US SUIT YOUR NEEDS!

We are incredibly blessed to know a very talented couple, (Spencer and Zen) that also happen to be parents of the most amazing young kiddos living very full, creative lives on the autism spectrum. Zen is a professional choreographer and dancer often hired for local productions, many involving children. She is also a local dance teacher. Spencer is an amazingly talented actor regularly seen in local Dallas productions and an accredited former middle school theater teacher. They have such passion for what they do, and are amazing at seeing the gifts in every child. They would love to offer a social skills program using improv, storytelling, and movement. We are in the exploratory phase of this. Please share with us your thoughts and interest. Ages? Development levels? Needs for your child? Sibling interactions? We are so very excited about this!!!

The class will focus on both the physical and emotional aspects of sports. We will use unrefined and natural foods in all of our recipes to promote healthy eating and reduce exposure to allergens while we create fun and delicious creations.
