When I say the word “SURRENDER” what do you think of? What images does it bring to mind?
Does the idea of surrender make you feel empowered or restricted?
Does the idea of surrender mean you are losing?
Does the idea of surrender mean you are not good enough?
I see many people working so hard to get results and yet their results seldom come. It is possible to work so hard and work yourself into a worse situation.
You see - when you are always busy that means you cannot see opportunity. You cannot spot opportunity when you are in the middle of commitments.
Many people say “yes” to everything, when in reality I believe you should “no” to almost everything.
When you surrender you are admitting your own insufficiencies. This is actually the most powerful thing you can do.
Knowing your limits promotes freedom because it teaches you how to lean on others.
Here are some things to surrender so that you can be better:
1. Surrender to perfectionism
2. Surrender to a finite destination
3. Surrender your negative self image
4. Surrender chronic toxic thinking patterns
5. Surrender your relationships
6. Surrender things that don’t serve you well
7. Surrender your schedule
8. Surrender your business growth and metrics
Begin to ask yourself - “what do I really want?”
Is it Respect?
Honor?
Intimacy?
Freedom?
I believe these things are waiting for all of us. We do not have to find them. They are here now, but we can’t realize them. We have to surrender our own timeline and surrender how we think it should look.
You are important, relevant, and matter. That is not dictated by followers or money.
Your purpose and identity is not in what you do or how many you help. The depth to which you help others is what matters, but your identity, it will never change.
You are you - and that is lovely and enough.
