Three years ago the North Texas Mensa chapter had a great outing to the Dallas Cowboys ATT Stadium for a private, VIP Tour to see everything from how the playing field was changed from turf to a solid surface, the locker rooms of the team and cheerleaders, a 50 yard line luxury suite, the press room, explanation of the engineering that went into construction of the stadium, and more. In addition, we had 30 minutes of exclusive use of the playing field to throw footballs, race into the goal line for a "touchdown," and kick field goals. The son of one member kicked two field goals!

Regional Gathering News
It’s official. North Texas Mensa is hosting a Regional Gathering (RG) this year over Thanksgiving weekend. For the new folks, an RG is a great weekend for fun and camaraderie. We have games; fascinating speakers; a hospitality room with meals, snacks and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic); an indoor pool; tastings and more. Best of all, it’s a time to hang with lots of your fellow Mensans.
But nothing happens in Mensa without volunteers. We need ideas for programs and people to run them. We need speakers and people to find them. We need people to run games and tournaments, people to help out in registration and hospitality. That’s where you come in.

All the horses in the 2025 Kentucky Derby were descendents of Secretariat, but none equalled his performance. Why not and how was Secretariat able to do it?"
Among the reasons no other horse has broken his record are Secretariat's confirmation, his stride and breakover efficiency. These result from a unique genetic predisposition that's not been successfully cloned.
The science of Secretariat's unsurpassed performance is a combination of his stride and breakover efficiency. A good jockey will effectively incorporate these qualities at the right time in a race, but the horse must have the right confirmation to be able to do it.
Stride potential is from a combination of the shoulder and hip conformationan. It's measured by the angle of the front and hind legs at full extension, and is a major factor in speed. If you look at this photograph of Secretariat at full stride, the angles of his front and hind legs are 110°, an ideal form.
Breakover efficiency determines the speed of the stride. It's how well a horse's heel lifts off the ground, releasing the foot from weight-bearing as the hoof rolls forward over the toe. The less time the front part of the hoof spends on the ground, the more quickly the horse will move forward.
Other than Secretariat, no other horse has had this combination of confirmation, stride, breakover efficiency, and the desire to win.
So that's the science accepted by breeders, trainers, and owners. Although many try, it's not yet been duplicated.
