We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Mr. Paul Kightliner, a funeral director and embalmer of Hughes Family Tribute Center.
We celebrated his life and his legacy of faith this past weekend at his church home. For those that knew Mr. Paul, he was a man of few words, but his wisdom made such an impact on those around him. Mr. Paul was also very dedicated to his trade, and he treated loved ones and families with care and respect.
He will be greatly missed by our staff and those who were blessed to know him on a personal level.
We are pretty sure our margarita machine gets out to party more than we do! 🍹
We had the delight to share our margarita machine with the residents of Parsons House Preston Hollow for their Cheeseburger in Paradise event! It was a fun way to tie in National Cheeseburger Day with Jimmy Buffet’s song! We are glad residents got to enjoy some tasty and refreshing drinks and with their cheeseburgers! 🍔

It looks like the only things missing from our grief therapy dog’s perfect fall day is cooler temps and a Pumpkin Spice Latte 🎃

Grief and love are tied so closely together. It is said that where there is great grief there was also great love. 💝
On National Grief Awareness Day, we want to acknowledge all the ways that we might feel grief. The way many people face grief is through the loss of a loved one. There are many ways to feel grief as we mourn a loved one including feeling
- Depression
- Tired
- Overwhelmed
- Numb
- Like you want to cry
- Anger
- and even more.
Each person grieves in their own way and in their own time. If you are grieving, give yourself time to recover and heal from your loss. If you know someone who is grieving, be a shoulder for them to lean on and follow the 3 H’s: Help, Hear & Hush.
There are other situations in which people grieve. All of these situations are valid reasons to grieve and the feeling of grief is very real. These situations can include:
- Loss of a pet
- Divorce
- Loss of a job
- Loss of a friendship
- Moving to a new home or state
- A feeling of a loss of identity or self
- and more.
Grief is a very real thing, and if you are facing grief, remember that it is not a display of weakness to grieve. Grief is a part of life and it is healthier to experience it than to keep it bottled up or repressed.
We PAWS-itively love dogs and supporting our friends at Parsons House Preston Hollow! They invited Star, our grief therapy dog, and her handler, DeWayne Hughes, to participate in their Wag & Wine event for National Dog Day! Sweet dogs and great drinks certainly do make a great pairing! 🐶🍷❤️
