Amazing words of practical wisdom!

"If we do not feel loved, it is probably because we are not showing love. If we do not feel respect, it is probably we are not showing respect. Human nature is that people reciprocate with what we give them. If we are impersonal toward others, then most people will be very impersonal to us. If we do not show care and affection for others, then they will probably ignore us. That is human nature. So many people say, “Nobody loves me. Everybody is so impersonal.” But I have not found anyone who extends himself to be caring, loving and affectionate towards others, and yet not receive love from others. How we behave toward others will withdraw certain qualities. If we insult others, we draw out their anger. If we praise others, we are going to draw out their pride. If we are affectionate to others, we can draw out whatever affection is within their hearts. In giving, we receive."

02/22/2019

Last week we learned how an uncontrolled mind can be the worst enemy one can have, and a mind under the control of intelligence act as our best friend. This week we will be discussing another interesting topic - the Pursuit of Happiness. It is said that the mind can be our best friend or the worst enemy. We all have faced times when our resolve to do something was utterly ineffective over the power of our own wavering mind. This week we will discuss what the mind is, and how it can be engaged and managed to our benefit!

Hi everyone!

Last week we had a great discussion on how in the present materialistic paradigm, the motto of everyone’s life has become - Work, Buy, Consume, Die! We also discussed how meditation helps us go beyond this framework, and ask if there is more to life. This week we will discuss a related topic - Redefining Happiness. We will find out why happiness is the most fundamental drive behind all our activities and is it possible to change our perspective towards it!

We will have musical mantra meditation and end with a delicious vegetarian dinner. Menu for this Wednesday is Pumpkin Sabzi, Basmati Rice, Bitter Melon-Potato fry, Veg Pakora and Cinnamon Raisin Bread. Looking forward to meeting you all tonight, February 8 at 6:00 p.m. in Atrium A-B, Hughes Trigg Student Center.
