Cheers to a new week!!! Starting things off right with my favorite Soul Boulder smoothie from 🍋🥑🍏
We officially moved into our new Dallas home a week ago today and it’s been a whirlwind. I’m exhausted and dealing with some symptoms flaring up. It’s always unfortunate when external stress inevitably affects our health.
Something not everyone understands is how much stress can play a part in how our body can feel! Stress directly plays a role in how we sleep, our energy, mental clarity, and even how our autoimmune disease can flare-up.
Yesterday I finally took the whole morning for self-care. Sleeping in, doing a face mask, picking up matcha on a sunny walk with my dog, making a well-balanced warm meal, and cuddling on the coach doing absolutely nothing for at least 2 hours in my sweats. Wow, did I feel like a whole new person.
Change is hard and can take a toll on our health. I urge you to take a moment for yourself if you’re ever feeling burnt out or exhausted. You have no idea how much it can help!

I’ve never needed comfort food more in my entire life than I have this weekend. Thank you for providing me with much needed paleo brunch.
If anyone needs to talk or process their emotions, know that I’m an ear to listen and support. I’ve been randomly crying since Friday and that’s okay.
Food that supports your body and mind is important during times of stress and something like this coconut yogurt, with healthy fats and proteins from the nuts and seeds, is perfect to balance your blood sugar and keep your body balanced to handle stressors better.
How have you been coping this weekend? I’ve been reaching out to friends to check on them and taking time to myself to let myself feel all the feelings that come my way.

A lot of people have been curious about why we moved back to TX after living in NYC. This is my story.

A lot of people have been curious about why we moved back to TX after living in NYC. This is my story.

Today was my last day living in NY. We moved here a year and a half ago with zero plan and every intention of taking it one day at a time. We wanted adventure, unpredictability, and a reason to shake things up. What we didn’t expect was that NY was going to push us in ways we had never been pushed and shape us into the people we have always wanted to be.

I got here in my 20s and I’m leaving in my 30s a completely different person. Since I got here: I started my own business, created an online course, met a soul sister who became my podcast cohost, memorized every NYC neighborhood, and only took the subway the wrong direction once! I also got to experience the magic that was my first NYC snowfall, live 8 blocks away from my little brother, and actually live with my little sister. What I wasn’t expecting was that I’d have the honor of working for two incredible functional doctors after a long journey from photography to functional medicine and I will never look back.

What I didn’t know is that I needed NY to be my stepping stone to help guide me to the path I had always wanted to take. It helped me be bold, fearless, and eager to grow more than I ever had. Dallas is home and I’m thrilled to bring this new me back to my roots to discover what’s next. Thank you NY for showing me the way, I’ll forever be grateful. 🍎🗽🚕 ❄️

Hi there new friends! It's been a while since I introduced myself. I'm Melanie, the functional nutritionist behind Everybody By Mel.
I started this business hoping to help all the people who were struggling with chronic illness and symptoms like I was. My journey began in 2014 when I moved into a moldy townhome. I didn't know it at the time, but as the years went on, and my health continued to get worse...I fought for answers I couldn't uncover.
I felt crazy when doctor after doctor couldn't find answers. Finally, I explored functional medicine and everything started making sense. I tested positive for multiple autoimmune diseases including Hashimoto's and Arthritis as well as leaky gut, SIBO, and candida overgrowth. I made sacrifice after sacrifice for my health: Paleo, Keto, AIP, Low FODMAP, low stress exercise (or none at all), no alcohol, and LOTS of supplements and doctors visits.
After 5 years, we finally realized there was something in my environment holding me back from remission....we checked our home for mold and found it in our air ducts. After all this time, it was my HOME that was keeping me sick?! There's nothing that can prepare you for that.
I've dedicated my career to making sure no one has to go through this alone, confused, or scared ever again. I'm here to provide you with all the information I have to put those puzzle pieces together with you.
If mold is something you're struggling with, don't forget my Mold Toxicity Guide eBook that has everything I've learned about how to recover. Link is in my bio!

Who's feeling the sunshine today? I know this bowl of superfood nutrition is ☀️
I wish every day could be a .coffee.beacon day. This is my favorite salad from the best gluten free restaurant in Hudson Valley that comes topped with a beet pickled egg and sprouts galore!
I have a lot in store for you guys coming up here very soon, stay tuned for updates and until then…
What's your favorite colorful sunshiny meal?

Just wanted to stop in and say Happy Holidays ❄️🎄
This year has been an absolutely whirlwind. We moved from NYC to Hudson Valley, I started a podcast, launched my online course to help people struggling with autoimmune disease, began working with an amazing Functional Doctor in Colorado, got to help photograph her beautiful plant-based cookbook (that is now on sale at Barnes & Noble), visited the mountains and the beach in one month, and have tried to explore every adventure NY has to offer.
I'll be flying home to Dallas this week for the first time in a year and a half and I couldn't be more thrilled to finally hug so many friends & family we were unable to when we moved during the pandemic.
It's times like this that make you realize what matters most in this world. I am beyond myself with love and appreciation this year for every single person who has lifted me up when I thought the whole world was crashing down around me.
Stop and enjoy every little moment this week: the Christmas lights, hot chocolate, cozy blankets, your favorite movies, every hug, holding hands, light snowfall on a quiet night, and above all... staying safe & healthy this holiday season.
I love each and every one of you. Happy Holidays from me to you. ❄️

9 years ago today, Justin asked me to be his girlfriend. It was my senior year winter break home in Texas from IU, and our summer fling had turned into a long-distance romance that we refused to let go of. In our first year together, this boy drove 14 hours to Indiana to visit me, wrote and recorded a song for me, and took every opportunity to show me that he would always be by my side.
Nine years later, and he is still standing right there next to me. Multiple career changes, a move across country, twists and turns with my health, a stubborn rescue dog that became our everything, and so many memories later...he is, and will always be my best friend.
Happy 9 year ❤️ I love you with all my heart.
