Our Story
Roderick Hunter Jr., DPM, AACFAS, is a board-qualified podiatric physician and founder of Hunter Foot & Ankle Associates, PLLC in Plano, Texas. He specializes in podiatric surgeries and wound care, providing a variety of in-office services to support foot and ankle health. Dr. Hunter has previously served on the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the Texas Podiatric Medical Association, and is the current committee chair for the TPMA Young Members Committee and an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Dr. Hunter is a veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. He trained as an airborne infantry medic and served in the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood area. Dr. Hunter is proud to give back to local veterans, active duty military personnel, and their family members. Attending the University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Hunter first earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in psychology. He then spent a year as a graduate assistant in the sickle cell research lab at the University of Texas before moving on to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine after a meeting with Dr. Laurence Lowy, who influenced Dr. Hunter to pursue a career in podiatry. For his residency, Dr. Hunter attended Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, Texas, where he made presentations on a variety of topics, including Jones fractures and lateral ankle pathology. Throughout his medical training, Dr. Hunter received several awards and scholarships based on his academic achievements and community service. Dr. Hunter spends time in the community when he’s not busy assisting patients, volunteering at multiple events each year. He also enjoys bass fishing, clay shooting, and spending quality time with his family.
