This award recognizes a member of the NBCF Medical Advisory Council who has gone above and beyond in providing up-to-date insights on medical policy and helping ensure NBCF’s programs and resources truly reflect the needs of patients facing breast cancer.

Congratulations to Jacques Lux, PhD, and the TRUST team on receiving a new DoD Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) Expansion Award to advance their immunomodulating microbubble platform.

This award builds on previous BCRP-funded work that led to a Nature Nanotechnology publication and helped launch MusiQ Bio. That project introduced MUSIC, an ultrasound-guided immunotherapy platform that uses reengineered microbubbles and has already demonstrated promising activity in ER-positive and triple-negative breast cancer models.

With this new support, the team will expand MUSIC to deliver tumor-specific antigens through the next-generation HARMONI platform. By activating therapy only at the tumor site with ultrasound, HARMONI aims to enhance immune recognition of cancer, strengthen long-term antitumor immunity, and improve elimination of both primary tumors and metastases.
