LBU Community Clinic

LBU Community Clinic LBU Community Clinic provides quality primary healthcare to families in need throughout Dallas LBU has been fully accredited by The Joint Commission since 1998.

In 1972, residents of several West Dallas neighborhoods united to open a community clinic in a portable building to serve a population disenfranchised from the services of the city due primarily to language and cultural differences. LBU Community Clinic (LBU) has flourished remarkably over the past 43 years. Nearly 30 clinicians provide care to over 25, 000 patients through 84,000 visits. Patients are drawn from communities throughout the D/FW Metropolitan area, although West Dallas, Oak Cliff and Grand Prairie are core service areas. LBU proudly provides top-notch care to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, place of residence or even the ability to pay. Today, LBU boasts over 74,000 square feet of clinic space on a West Dallas clinic campus and in Oak Cliff. In the summer of 2020 we opened our newest clinic in South Oak Cliff. Primary care services include pediatrics, prenatal and postpartum care, adult care, mental health care, dental care for children, a WIC program and a pharmacy. LBU has gained a great deal of experience after 50 years of serving the community and continues to respond to the community’s changing needs.

Feliz Cumpleanos y Happy 54th birthday, LBU Community Clinic! Fifty-fours years ago, today, LBU was incorporated as a nonprofit in order to provide health care to West Dallas residents in need of affordable, culturally attuned health care for their loved ones. From our humble, proud beginnings in a portable trailer, to five locations serving nearly 30,000 North Texans, LBU is driven by the same mission, vision and values of our founders. Yesterday, LBU was honored to welcome very special guests from Bank of America's Philanthropic Solutions group who, with their peers, expertly steward the grantmaking of more than 160 foundations. What a delight! These VIPs are driven by the missions of many, and know a great deal about nearly every, if not every, nonprofit in North Texas (and beyond). Thank you, Julia, Kelly, Eli and Grace for the support you have given to LBU and countless other nonprofits over many years! You help make the impossible possible.

Our Story

In 1972, residents of several West Dallas neighborhoods united to open a community clinic in a portable building to serve a population disenfranchised from the services of the city due primarily to language and cultural differences. Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic (LBUCC) has flourished remarkably over the past 43 years. Nearly 30 clinicians provide care to over 22,000 patients through 74,000 visits. Patients are drawn from communities throughout the D/FW Metropolitan area, although West Dallas, Oak Cliff and Grand Prairie are core service areas. LBUCC proudly provides top-notch care to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, place of residence or even the ability to pay. Today, LBUCC boasts over 50,000 square feet of clinic space on the West Dallas campus and a satellite clinic in Grand Prairie. In the Spring of 2016, LBUCC will open a new 21,400 sq. ft. facility in South Oak Cliff. Primary care services include pediatrics, prenatal and postpartum care, adult care, mental health care, dental care for children, a WIC program and a pharmacy. Services are provided on a sliding fee scale. We also accept Medicaid, CHIP and Medicare. LBUCC has been fully accredited by The Joint Commission since 1998. LBUCC has gained a great deal of experience after 43 years of serving the community and continues to respond to the community’s changing needs.
