Ancestry DNA Clusters added to Pro Tools!!! Slowly, Ancestry is adding needed tools for DNA research, and, I have to say, their ProTools is well worth the expense.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe "Independence from England" Day! This independence and freedom was only won for a certain portion of the American citizenry.

I honor my ancestor, Jeremiah Harrell, for his bravery in fighting for my freedom, and nearly all of my ancestors for not believing in the enslavement of others in the first place. The majority of my ancestors were Quakers, so I don't have but maybe one or two who may have fought in the RW.

I am grateful to have had ancestors who worked on the Underground Railroad, and one, whose home was a station, from Kentucky into Indiana. While I haven't found an enslaving ancestor yet, I will "never say never" as there likely was one at some point, but so far, I haven't identified any.

My ancestors continuously fought for freedoms of all people on this land and this Independence Day is more of a thanksgiving day for me. Doing this kind of research for the majority of my life has made me value my heritage more than I ever thought I would and on the 4th of July, I think about the ancestors and how some were born on this land and today considered Native American, others came here with the first English colonizers in the 1600's, others arrived in the next century, and one, only one, arrived just after the American Civil War, in 1866, from Germany.

Stay safe and have fun today folks!

Ancestry USERS: CITE YOUR SOURCES!!

I just found one of my photos in someone's tree and they tried to erase my copyright stamp! You can still see pieces of it in "their" photo.

I stamp my content because people like to "steal", they just don't understand the importance of citing the source; of being able to prove that the content is true and correct.

When you download someone's content, alter it, and re-upload, you are stealing and you can no longer stand by your research because you cannot prove that this photo depicts the correct person, place, or thing.

Remember, as you work on those DNA trees this summer, scammers are everywhere.

Sadly, people have now started taking DNA tests in order to scam others by getting personal information and trying to get something to help them financially.

Be very careful messaging people who do not have a family tree. Me, I just ask if they could build their tree to their deceased ancestors at least.

Summer time is coming, what is everyone working on this year?

Me, I really need to get my Oak Grove Cemetery book ready for publishing. Section A is almost ready, Section B is going to take longer.

Anyone have any brick walls?
