What is the chakra system?
The chakra system refers to energy centers in the energetic body. Chakras are spinning disks of energy that are located throughout the body. While it is reported that there are as many as 114 chakras, there are 7 main chakras that run along the spine. Each chakra corresponds with an area in the body, specific organs, and developmental processes. When the chakra system is healthy, the chakras are open and energy flows through the body freely resulting in optimal physical health and mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This is when the body is in an optimal state to heal itself. When there are blocks in the chakras, energy cannot flow freely, resulting in mental, emotional, and/or physical dis-ease.
Long before modern medicine, in 1500 B.C. ancient India, practitioners used energy work to heal all types of physical and mental ailments. Reiki, acupuncture, acupressure, chakra tuning, and qi gong are all types of energy healing.
