What's something you may not know about Direct Primary Care?

There are many differences between DPC doctors and traditional providers. One of the biggest shifts with a DPC is the relationship between doctor and patient.

At times a traditional provider can feel removed and out of touch, almost a stranger who knows intimate facts about your health.

A doctor should be a PARTNER, someone you navigate ALL your health needs with. When you experience a health crisis, they should be the first person you want to reach out to. You should never feel that your doctor is a stranger or someone you bother with questions and concerns.

I want to build relationships with my patients so there are no walls between us! They feel just as comfortable reaching out to me as they do a friend!

What comes to mind when you think of a doctor caring for your health?

I think it's easy and common to jump to physical health alone. We see a doctor or seek out medical help when we have a physical need. If we have a fever, break a bone, or struggle with a chronic illness it's easy to justify seeing a doctor.

But what about your mental and emotional health needs? Are you equally willing to see a doctor for those?

Independently your mental and emotional health need to be cared for just like your physical health. You can have mental and emotional illnesses just like you can have physical illnesses. They are valid and important reasons to see a doctor as well!
