Meet our newest provider, Ben Harrison, LCSW. Ben specializes in anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and challenging behaviors, using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and CBT to help kids and families thrive.

When Ben isn’t in sessions, there’s a 90% chance he’s either spending time with his family or woodworking. For the past five years, he’s spent many evenings at the lathe creating bowls, vases, and one-of-a-kind artistic pieces.

Ben is now seeing patients in the Roy office.

Terra Bowden shares our third recipe that we all know and love—Texas Roadhouse Rolls. Punching the dough down and making smiley faces in the flour are just a few of her kids' favorite parts about this recipe. These rolls are perfect for family gatherings, and easy to make right at home.

Texas Roadhouse Rolls.

Ingredients:
4 tsp. active dry yeast
1/2 c warm water
2 c milk, scalded & cooled to lukewarm
3 Tbsp. melted butter, slightly cooled
1/2 c sugar
7 to 8 c flour
2 eggs
2 tsp. salt

Directions:

- Dissolve yeast in warm water with a tsp of sugar; let stand until frothy.
- Combine yeast mix, milk, 1/2 c sugar, and enough flour to make a medium batter (similar to pancake batter). Beat thoroughly.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and salt. Beat well.
Add enough flour to form a soft dough.
Sprinkle a small amount of flour onto the counter and let the dough rest.
- Meanwhile, grease a large bowl. Knead dough until smooth and satiny, and put in a bowl; turn over to grease the top. Knead 4-5 min.
- Cover & let rise until doubled. Punch down.
- Turn out onto a floured area. Divide into portions for shaping; let rest 10 min. Shape dough. Place on a greased baking sheet. Let rise until doubled.
- Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes (until golden brown).
- Baste immediately with butter. Serve with cinnamon honey butter.

Dr. Daniel Neumann is sharing one of his favorite holiday pie recipes, including his homemade pie crust recipe (although you can totally snag a premade one if you want, its fun to roll out, especially with your kids).

Derby Day Pie

Ingredients
¼ c butter, softened
1 c sugar
2 eggs
¾ c light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt
1 c pecans, chopped
½ c chocolate chips
1 unbaked pie crust

Directions
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt. Stir in pecans and
chocolate chips. Pour into a pie crust (unbaked) and bake at 375°F for 40-45 min (put tin foil over the
top for the first 25-30 min). Let it cool completely before cutting and serving.

Pie Crust (Makes 2 crusts)

Ingredients
1¼ c flour
¼ tsp salt
½ c butter, chilled and diced
¼ c ice water (may not use it all)

Directions
Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in water a little at a time until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least
4 hours. Divide dough into 2 pieces and roll them to fit the pie dish.

Comments
For a more flaky crust, leave some chunks of butter in the mixture, and when it's rolled it will form
layers. Also, you can replace the water with sour cream or cream cheese. The fat helps get a more
tender outcome (less gluten development), and the protein and sugar help you get good browning.

We're sharing a few favorite holiday recipes that our Wee Care providers enjoy making with their kids. The first is from Emily Bankhead, who says, "These pumpkin orange cookies are always a fall/winter tradition in our home. Every year, my family gathers to bake them together, filling the house with the scents of warm spices, pumpkin, and citrus. These soft, cake-like cookies never last more than a few days and are the perfect treat for fall get-togethers, Thanksgiving, or a special treat. From my house to yours. Enjoy!"

Pumpkin Orange Cookie Recipe
Yield: 36-40 large cookies

Ingredients
- 2 C. butter
- 2 C. granulated sugar
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 29 oz can of pure pumpkin

- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- Zest and juice of 2 oranges
- 2 C. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In an extra-large bowl, cream butter and sugars with a hand mixer. Add in eggs, vanilla, pumpkin, orange zest, and orange juice. Mix until combined. Add spices, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add flour until mixed. Fold in nuts.
Drop by ice-cream scoop onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 16 minutes. Cool. Drizzle with orange glaze.
