Navaratri: A Time for Inner and Outer Transformation 🌸🙏

Navaratri, the sacred celebration honoring the Divine Mother, begins on October 3 and ends on October 12 this year. This is a time when we turn our focus toward slaying both our internal and external demons. Just as the Divine Mother destroys the forces of chaos in the world, we are reminded to confront the darkness within us—lust, greed, anger, jealousy, and other afflictions that cloud the heart and mind.

At the Traditional Yoga Society (TYS), Navaratri is a time of intensified sadhana (spiritual practice). It’s an opportunity to tap into the collective energy of millions who are practicing and praying during these powerful nine days. Together, we invoke the Divine Mother's strength to help us overcome our inner obstacles and cultivate Shakti—the power of will, determination, and transformation.

🕉 Join Us in Sadhana 🕉

From October 3 - 12, TYS will host:
- Group asana classes
- Discussions on the Devi Mahatmyam
- Daily Satsang (spiritual gatherings)
- Group meditation

We will conclude with a free public kirtan on the last day of Navaratri.

This year, we are also encouraging everyone to undertake a 9-day sadhana challenge and reflect on your Sankalpa shakti (inner resolve). To deepen this practice, consider refraining from one or more of the following for 30 days:
- Drink only water
- Refrain from social media
- Eat in silence once per day
- Avoid unnecessary shopping, gossip, or idle conversation..and more, cultivating self-awareness and strength.

Remember, every effort to overcome our inner darkness brings us closer to knowing our true Self. Let's use this Navaratri to become stronger, more luminous, and aligned with our higher purpose.

At TYS, kirtan is more than just call-and-response chanting; it’s a heartfelt practice of unity and love.
