For my birthday this year, I went on a pilgrimage.

I am a born & raised Ohio girl.
The town where I grew up, Miamisburg Ohio, is home to a large adena culture earthwork called “The Miamisburg Mound” amd Ohio has more intact mounds and earthworks than any other state.

5 years ago I was inspired to plan a “mound tour” visiting earthworks around Ohio, offering PrayerSong in each place.

I was originally going to take the trip for my birthday 5 years ago, but that AM when I went out to my car I had two flat tires… so I ended up going to a tire store and then just visited Serpent Mound for my first time, but didn’t do the full tour.

Then every year since then, there has always been another reason it didn’t workout for me to go... (all valid & positive reasons, but still things “out of my control”)… Until this year!

And I think this how it was meant to be…
I did this pilgrimage at 33.

Tho this won’t be the only one,… i will speak more on what this experience means to me and also on what is to come.

For now, just saying Thank you again to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and helped make my bday special!

Especially Thank you to Joe Waters who accompanied me, drove us around and supported this pilgrimage. I really enjoyed experiencing this with you and our fur babies.

This weekend I have been fortunate enough to hitch a ride with my mom & my grandparents down to Kentucky where my grandparents were born & raised.

This is my papaw and you can see on his hat “Doty Days” which celebrates the 2 room school house that both my grandparents attended through grade school.

Doty School house has now been preserved as an art studio & community center.

I’ll share more about this sweet little two room school house & what it has become in a future post.

Papaw is also my “birthday buddy”
One week from today, Sunday November 2nd,
Is my birthday and I’ll be 33!
Two days after mine, on November 4th,
Is Papaw’s birthday and he will be 89!
