The Impact of Grief; bringing you the tools and mindset to move forward in your journey. Registration is required. --- The Grief 2 Hope workshop is a safe space of transparency where you can be your authentic self to share your story of grief, your struggles, and experiences with others and gain coping skills, hope, support, and encouragement all while being around others who understand. Facilitated by Hope Reger, published author, inspirational speaker, and founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Grief 2 Hope. Her mission is that no one should ever have to grieve alone and is in honor of her son, Justin, whom she lost to murder in 2016.

When: Monday, August 26, 2024 (6:00PM - 7:30PM)

Join us Saturday October 28th at 1:30pm for the Before I Die Festival's Death Cafe.
If you are unfamiliar with what a Death Cafe is, then you probably are thinking something morbid! However, a Death Cafe, is a small group of people coming together to discuss various end of life or death related topics. Hosts may not lead, promote, or have an agenda to discuss. The format is truly open, allowing participants to ask questions and have conversations. Ideally it will provide a space that allows people to become more comfortable with discussing death and the realities of that inevitable event. It is merely a discussion group, not a support group and not a counseling forum. It is open to people of all beliefs, backgrounds, and understandings. All thoughts and ideas are welcome. Have you ever wanted to tour a cemetery at night? Here is your chance! We have partnered with Woodland Cemetery to bring their famous History, Mystory, Mayhem and Murder tours to the Before I Die Ohio Festival! We will be adding one more tour to this event since it SOLD OUT quickly. Tickets will be 30$ at the gate, cash only. This will be first come first served once we fill the tour we will not have any more tickets.
Who confessed on their deathbed of murdering 18-year-old Christine Kett? Did Rose Shafor really dress up as a man to help her lover commit a crime? Who killed Julius Kruse? And was the “Cincinnati Ripper” living in Dayton? These stories and more are told in this walk to the grave sites of a victim or perpetrator of a crime. Please note that the tour relates the actual accounts of murders that took place in Dayton. Graphic details are given and may not be appropriate for all audiences.

This 2-hour tour may be deemed strenuous by some and is not recommended for children or elderly patrons or those who may have trouble walking long distances through hilly and uneven grassy areas. Tours will launch rain or shine, except in the event of thunder or lightning.

We will also have food and dessert trucks!

Join us and speaker Denise Swick at Routsong Funeral Home on Friday October 27th from 2:30 to 3:30pm, for a Downsizing and Legacy Seminar! It is hard for many people to make the decision to downsize and to even begin the process. How do you start and how do you know it is time? There are so many questions that surround this topic. The second annual Before I Die Festival will address this topic with Downsizing expert Denise Swick. At 34, Denise suddenly lost her mother. Instantly she became the sole caregiver for three elderly relatives. Quickly, Denise had to coordinate the process of moving her grandmother from her home of 30 years, her uncle into independent living, and another uncle into 24-hour care.
Through this experience, Denise learned how to navigate the transition while balancing all of the emotions. Her passion for real estate and helping people compelled her to become both a Senior Relocation and Probate/Estate specialist. With over three decades of selling real estate in the Dayton Area, Denise has built a dynamic network to assist her clients through every step of the rightsizing process.
