Dr Resident Dr. at MVH..... Pitocin is NOT the same as Oxytocin....anymore than a plastic rose is the same as a REAL rose.... in this case, looks like a duck, quacks ALMOST like a duck.... but NOT REALLY a duck.....

We often talk about the differences in a spontaneous or natural labor versus that of an induced labor, but why is this so? The differences lie in the artificial hormone Pitocin and how it differs from oxytocin.
