World Embryologist Day, also known as World IVF Day, marks the anniversary of the birth of Louise Joy Brown, the first baby born through IVF. This groundbreaking moment transformed the future of family building.

According to SART’s most recent national report, the number of babies born through IVF rose from 91,771 in 2022 to 95,860 in 2023. Today, IVF accounts for approximately 2.6% of all births in the United States, and that number continues to grow.

Not all fibroids are the same. Their size and location play a big role in whether they impact fertility.

There are three main types of uterine fibroids, classified by where they grow:
Subserosal (55%) - on the outer wall of the uterus
Intramural (40%) – in the muscular wall of the uterus
Submucosal (5%) – inside the uterine cavity

While most people with fibroids will not be infertile because of them, certain fibroids can affect your ability to conceive, especially submucosal fibroids (inside the uterine cavity) or large intramural fibroids (>6 cm in diameter within the wall of the uterus).
