💜Purple Up! For Military Kids💜

During the month of April, we take time to recognize and honor the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of children in military families.
Military children face unique challenges, including frequent moves, changing schools, and long periods of separation from loved ones. Through it all, they continue to adapt, grow, and show incredible strength.

🧠Did you know?
The official flower of the military child is the dandelion.
Dandelions put down roots almost anywhere, thrive in a variety of conditions, and continue to grow and bloom despite challenges—making them a powerful symbol of resilience.
This symbol is especially meaningful to us at the Resiliency Center, as it reflects the strength and adaptability we strive to support in every individual and family we serve.

To all military children and families—thank you for your strength, your sacrifices, and your resilience. 💜

💭 “Relaxing is a waste of time.”

Let’s challenge that—rest is not wasted time, it’s essential.
Taking time to relax allows your nervous system to reset, supports emotional regulation, and improves mental clarity. Without rest, stress continues to build, making it harder to focus, cope, and feel like yourself.

💛 Quick check-in: Did you complete a self-care activity over the weekend?
Whether it was something small or intentional, taking that time matters—and your mind and body notice.
If rest feels hard or unproductive, you’re not alone. Many of us have learned to prioritize productivity, over being present in the moment —but true wellness requires both.

We’re excited to introduce our ✨Clinical Director, Angela Harris, MSW, LISW-S✨
She is a dedicated leader who plays a vital role in supporting both our clients and our growing team of clinicians.

In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice at our Port Clinton Office and providing supervision, Angie continues to work directly with individual clients. Her clinical specialties include EMDR and trauma-focused treatment, where she brings compassion, expertise, and a deep commitment to healing.

Let’s be real—ignoring stress doesn’t solve it… it stores it.
When stress is pushed aside, it doesn’t disappear. Instead, it can build up over time and show up in other ways—like burnout, anxiety, irritability, or even physical symptoms. Taking the time to acknowledge and address stress is an important part of caring for your overall well-being.
