Helping Your Dog Stay Steady on Slippery Floors 🐾
Kota’s mom brought her in because she was having trouble getting up without slipping—something we see often in senior pups. Here are some simple things you can do at home to help your dog feel more stable and confident on those slick floors:
✅ Add Area Rugs or Runners
Place rugs with non-slip backing in your dog’s most-used paths—especially near food bowls, beds, and doorways.
✅ Trim Toenails & Fur Between the Pads
Long nails and excess fur can act like skis. Keep them trimmed to improve traction.
✅ Use Grippy Socks or Paw Pads
Non-slip dog socks or paw pad stickers (like our fav Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips) can provide instant traction.

✅ Strengthen Core & Hind Muscles
Daily low-impact exercises like slow leash walks, sit-to-stand reps, or gentle hill walking can help your dog build strength and stability.
✅ Use Raised Bowls & Orthopedic Beds
Reducing how far your pup has to bend or jump can prevent unnecessary slipping when getting up or down.
✅ Keep the Floors Clean
Residue from cleaners or polish can make floors even more slippery. Wipe with a damp cloth regularly.

If your pup is starting to slip more often, it’s not just “old age”—it’s a signal to support them. Chiropractic care can also help with balance, joint mobility, and nerve communication.🧠✨
