Greeting young trick-or-treaters 🎃 at the door is one of the many perks of Aging-in-Place; it's another small joy that comes of staying home...
But answering the door on Halloween can also be stressful for older people--especially if intimidating teenagers are abroad that night, threatening tricks if they don't like the treats.
For that reason Wednesday evening might be a good time to drop in on your aging parent, enjoy the fun with them and keep the older mischief-makers at bay, along with their shaving cream and toilet paper. If you can't be there, perhaps someone you trust can go in your place.

Have a Generator on standby.
When a storm hits those Aging-in-Place could possibly go hours or even days without power. That means in addition to the hazards posed by extreme weather, seniors will be without access to live-saving medical devices. make sure seniors have a plan in case of an emergency.
Before an emergency happens, sit down and decide how you'll get in contact with each other, and have a basic emergency supply kit available.
