Bonus Oil of the Week!
Lemon
Lemon oil has many uses. It is a powerful antiseptic and can be an effective means to improve circulation. It is a considered to be an excellent antibacterial agent. This makes it well suited for respiratory infections or inflammation. Historically, adding a few drops of Lemon oil to warm water with a sweetener has provided relief for many suffering from coughs or sore throats.
Additionally, its pleasant sweet aroma can be uplifting to lighten any mood as well as cleansing to the environment. One of the easiest ways to receive the remarkable qualities associated with Lemon oil is to diffuse it into the air or utilize direct inhalation from the palms of the hands. Lemon oil can effortlessly be applied to the bottom of the feet or added to a glass of water as a purifier and for a quick energizing boost. Interestingly, Lemon oil has also been known to be strengthening to the fingernails. Simply apply the oil directly onto the nails.
Precautions: Can be a skin irritant over time. Use a skin test. May react to sunlight or UV rays. When using photosensitizing oil, wait a minimum of six hours before exposing skin to UV rays. The stronger and more lengthy the UV ray, the longer the wait should be.

I'm behind on posting an Oil for the week, so I'm going to do two this week! We had a little bit of a cold strike our baby girl (7 months old) this weekend and a combination of oils worked wonders! We used OnGaurd on her feet and lemon oil on her chest and back with every diaper change (diluted of course). In addition we alternated diffusing OnGaurd and Lemon. We started when she woke up Saturday morning with a leaky faucet of a nose...by Sunday morning...NO RUNNY NOSE! Check out the follwoing posts for info on these amazing oils!

Oil of the Week: Lavender
Lavender has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad of therapeutic benefits. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for mummification, bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume; its ability to calm and soothe the mind and body continue to be Lavender’s most notable qualities. Lavender is frequently used to soothe skin irritations and help skin recover quickly. Applying Lavender to the back of the neck and temples helps reduce muscle tension. Inhaling Lavender promotes relaxation and a restful night’s sleep, making it an ideal oil to diffuse at bedtime and when stress levels are high. Due to Lavender’s versatility and soothing properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times.

Our little girl Scarlett is going through some serious teething! Along with her nightly routine of essential oils on her feet for sleep, we are using lavender oil along her jawline each night and with each diaper change to help calm down her painful teeth! When things get really rough, we add a little clove oil into the routine. You have to be careful with this oil, especially on babies as it's hot! But once we put the diluted oil on Scarlett's gums, she immediately becomes her happy smiley self again!
