Sometimes I catch myself staring at raw beef suet in the fridge and thinking, ๐™ฌ๐™๐™ฎ ๐™™๐™ค ๐™„ ๐™™๐™ค ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ž๐™จ? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Rendering tallow isnโ€™t exactly glamorous โ€” itโ€™s messy, time-consuming, and definitely not for the faint of heart. There are moments when I dread the chopping, the sorting, the slow melting, the strainingโ€ฆ and especially the cleanup. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

But then, the process comes full circle. The mess is gone, and in its place are these smooth, beautiful tallow pucks, which I never get tired of looking at, lol โ€” and Iโ€™m reminded exactly why itโ€™s worth it. ๐Ÿ˜

I do this to create clean, non-toxic, truly natural skincare for my family and for you. ๐ŸŒฟ The more I learn about the everyday toxins weโ€™re exposed to, the more that mission matters. Your skin is your body's largest organ, and what you put on it is just as important as what you put in it. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

Second render getting started on some high quality grass-fed goodness here! This is a mix of beef suet and trim fat that will be turned into dish soap and body soaps. While suet (which is all we use in our leave-on tallow body products) is prized for making a hard, long-lasting bar with rich lather, trim fat helps use more of the animal and can add a slightly creamier feel to the soap. When both fats come from clean, well-raised grass-fed cattle and are properly rendered, they can produce high-quality tallow that works beautifully in soap!

What's that gelatinous substance, you might ask? When wet rendering, the water pulls out natural collagen and proteins from the fat tissues, which cool into a jelly-like layer beneath the hardened tallow. So cool to watch it wiggle! For zero waste, it makes a delicious and nutritious addition to soups and broths!
