Client I had last month: couldn't turn their head left without shoulder pain, had been sleeping on the couch for 3 weeks because the bed "wasn't working."

Four sessions later: full neck rotation, back in their own bed, and they cancelled their MRI because the pain was gone.

Not every case moves this fast, but when the problem is soft tissue, soft tissue work usually wins.

"Do those cupping marks hurt?"

Most people don't feel them like normal bruises—but some do report tenderness, especially the first time or if the suction was stronger in that spot.

The suction creates negative pressure that lifts tissue (think reverse massage: pulling up instead of pressing in). The marks come from capillaries near the surface responding to that suction.

Why do some marks look darker? Could be stronger suction, temperature differences in the tissue, or how much blood was already present in those capillaries. It's not diagnostic—just variation.
