The world is undeniably more vibrant and more balanced with lions in it.

These magnificent predators sculpt entire ecosystems. When they thrive, everything around them, from the vast grasslands to the grazing herds, finds its natural rhythm and balance. Communities also benefit significantly from lion conservation, as wildlife contributes to healthcare, tourism, education, and other vital aspects of community empowerment.

Sadly, these magnificent creatures are in peril. They're classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, facing a high risk of extinction in the wild.

Some of the challenges facing lions are habitat loss due to expanding human settlements and farmland, combined with a reduction in wild prey, which can lead lions to target livestock. This overlap sometimes results in conflict, which poses challenges for both communities and lion populations.

At Lewa, we focus on coexistence. We collaborate closely with communities and conservation partners to monitor lion activity using tools such as GPS collars and camera traps. This helps track their movements, anticipate areas of overlap, and support early response where needed. Through shared knowledge, transparent communication, and joint planning, we aim to create a landscape where both people and lions can thrive.

Happy !

🔥🐾 Paw Safety Reminder! 🐾🔥

When the air temperature hits 100°F, pavement surfaces can become dangerously hot for your pets' paws:

🔥 Asphalt: 140°F
🔥 Concrete: 125°F
🔥 Grass: 105°F
🔥 Shaded Grass: 90°F

🚨 Paw burns can happen in just 60 seconds at 140°F!
🚨 Even 5 minutes on 120°F surfaces can cause damage.

Before taking your pup out, use the “5-second rule”: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you can’t hold it there for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for paws.

🐶 Opt for early morning or late evening walks, stick to shady grassy areas, and always check the ground first. Our furry friends depend on us to protect them! ❤️
