As one year ends and another begins, children don’t need big promises — they need reassurance. 💙

Tonight’s Smart Start:
Sit together and name one thing that feels familiar and steady.

Big emotions often come with big holidays and that’s completely normal.

Here are a few small ways to help children navigate changes in routine:
1️⃣ Prep them: Talk about what’s coming next (“We’ll open gifts after breakfast.”)
2️⃣ Plan quiet breaks: Give time to reset from overstimulation.
3️⃣ Keep familiar routines: Naps, meals, and bedtime matter more than you think.
4️⃣ Show grace: Remember — excitement, overwhelm, and joy can all show up together.

Some weekends are for catching up — others are for slowing down.
This one’s your reminder that connection doesn’t need a plan.

Tonight…Put down the schedule. Skip the checklist.
Build a blanket fort. Dance in the kitchen. Laugh over dinner.
Those unplanned moments are where emotional growth actually happens. 💙

As we begin a new month, we’re reminded that gratitude isn’t just something we feel — it’s something we practice.

Today, we’re celebrating one of our amazing team members, Jessica, whose dedication and creativity make a daily difference for families.

We’re grateful for every DBC team member who leads with compassion and helps children reach new milestones every day.

As the weekend winds down, take a moment to reflect on what made you thankful this week.

Connection, laughter, or a quiet moment together — these small joys matter most.

Here’s to carrying that gratitude into a new week of growth and calm.

Teamwork doesn’t just happen in the field — it grows when we come together to learn, share, and connect.

At our recent DBC team meeting, we spent time listening and learning — reminding us how powerful it is to work alongside people who care deeply about helping families thrive.

This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for the families, therapists, and partners who make our work meaningful. 💙

Every day we witness the power of compassion, curiosity, and collaboration in helping children grow.

To our incredible community — thank you for trusting us, inspiring us, and reminding us why we do what we do.

Did you know that practicing gratitude can actually change the brain?

Studies show that when families focus on appreciation, the brain releases dopamine and serotonin — “feel-good” chemicals that boost mood and connection.

Here are three easy gratitude activities for kids:
1️⃣ Create a “Thankful Jar” and add notes daily.
2️⃣ Draw or collage what you’re thankful for.
3️⃣ Say “thank you” out loud and mean it — to each other!

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling — it’s a daily skill we can model and practice.

End your day with gratitude — it’s one of the simplest ways to set a positive tone.

This week’s Smart Start idea:

Say one thankful thing together at dinner.

It could be a person, a moment, or something small that made you smile.

When children learn to name what they’re thankful for, they build emotional awareness and empathy that last a lifetime. 💙

Ready to make a small shift that can change the whole rhythm of your home?

Here’s a simple Smart Start ritual families can try this week:
✨ Name the Plan:
Share the schedule in one sentence. (“After breakfast we’ll play, then head to speech.”)
✨ Choose One Goal:
Invite your child to pick a focus: kindness, listening ears, helping hands, or trying something new.
✨ Create a Moment of Connection:
A hug, high-five, or silly handshake resets nervous systems — for both of you.

These tiny routines build predictability, confidence, and emotional safety — the foundation for a smoother day.
