Women are 14% less likely to receive CPR in public.
A groundbreaking study from Duke University School of Medicine, led by Dr. Audrey Blewer, has revealed a troubling reality: despite bystander CPR doubling survival rates, women experiencing cardiac arrest in public are significantly less likely to receive help compared to men.

One key barrier? Fear of inappropriate contact or causing harm. This highlights the urgent need to reshape public perception, enhance CPR training, and normalize performing CPR on women.

Women are less likely than men to receive life-saving CPR and defibrillator help during cardiac arrest – a problem that persists regardless of neighborhood diversity.

Here is a prime example of how important learning CPR is.
Isaac collapsed on the field last March, and because coaches, school nurses, and paramedics performed compressions and grabbed an AED, he is perfectly fine today.
-a reminder that anyone can learn how to do CPR, and even if someone only knows how to do compressions, the chance of someone's survival can double or triple
-Sudden Cardiac Arrest can happen at anytime, anywhere, and to anyone.

Doctors still have no idea why Isaac Flores collapsed, but they do know one thing: it’s because of CPR and an AED that he gets to rejoin his peers on the field and be a kid.

October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness (SCA) Month.

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
-It is not the same as a heart attack, although those terms are oftentimes used interchangeably.
-It is a leading cause of death in the US, taking the lives of more than 356,000 people each year, including more than 23,000 youth under age 18.
-When SCA happens, the person collapses and doesn't respond or breathe normally. They may gasp or look as if they are having a seizure.
-If help isn't received right away, SCA leads to death within minutes. Call 911, start CPR, and use an AED (if available) ASAP.

ANYONE can perform CPR, even without a certification or training. Push hard and fast. ANYONE can use an AED, even without a certification or training. That's why they're found in public spaces such as libraries, gyms, and office buildings.

Want to learn more? Reach out to us via DM, email at info@fhcpr.com, or give us a call at 303.594.6935. Learning hands-only CPR takes less than an hour.
