This quote comes from our wonderful relationship expert Esther Perel. It is a great way to think about times and arguments where we focus on being right and we don’t get what we truly want.
It can feel really gratifying to argue the small meaningless points in an argument and feel like you are winning, but at the end of the day if you’re wanting your partner to listen to you, if you’re wanting to feel connected with your partner, if you wanting to resolve a conflict and bring about change, being right isn’t always the wise thing to focus on.
Next time you find yourself in a disagreement, ask: Do I want to be right, or do I want to be happy?
