Please join us in welcoming Matthew to The Wellness Center! Matthew is a Licensed Massage Therapist with 20 years of experience! Ever mindful of patient safety, the stance of “low risk, high reward” is foremost in his mind.

He gravitates toward deep work, including Myofascial and Neuromuscular massage. He integrates generous amounts of movement and ends with a boost to really affect the Central Nervous System.

What’s the last thing that made you laugh? Whatever it was, it offered you something pretty special. Laughter has many mental and physiological effects. Laughing releases endorphins in your brain which help you to feel peaceful, calm and euphoric. In the short-term, laughing can increase circulation and make you feel more relaxed. Over the long-term, these positive benefits can strengthen your immune system and increase your ability to deal with stressful situations. Any one else feeling in need of a little laughter?

What does it mean to be a Mother?

For me, the essence of Mothering is caring for others. Whether it be as a teacher, coach, nanny, aunt, sibling, foster parent, scout leader, mentor, friend, spiritual leader or neighbor. There are so many ways that people help young humans grow up to become good stewards in the community and world. It doesn’t happen overnight, and as the cliché goes, “it takes a village.”

Mother’s Day can be a time to reflect on all these forms of motherhood and the individuals who offer this precious care. This month reach out to someone who has been a mother figure to you. Send her a card and tell her how much of an impact she made on your life. We’ll have postcards for you at The Wellness Center all month long!

Clara is a Massage Therapist with almost 30 years of experience! She loves working with individuals exploring the mind-body connection and finds particular enjoyment in facilitating releases and supporting moms. Clara believes each body is unique and beautiful! She finds clients often need a combination of visceral, nervous system or cranial work so each session is customized to the needs of the client on her table. Clara gives an integrated massage, listening to each separate joint or tissue and responding appropriately which could be energetically or w/deep muscle work, joint movement, etc.

4 Ways Our Owner Manages Her Stress:

🤳 Spend less time on social media and reading the news. Instead, use this time to gather with friends and find enjoyment. Set a weekly time to get together to go for a walk, play a game or just hang out. Join a sports league or group activity that meets weekly.
📆 Don't overschedule yourself and create lots of spaciousness between appointments. Everyday joy can be found in the mundane when we are able to slow down and breathe.
💰Spend less and save for a rainy day. I can’t tell you how important this is for reducing stress and anxiety. For many years I used credit cards to pay for things I didn’t need and experiences I couldn’t afford. I ultimately had to file bankruptcy, which ended up being the best decision and freed me from debtors' prison (of which I have never looked back). To learn more, listen to this podcast where I talk about taking the leap.
🌎 Get more involved in your local community. Volunteer at a local food bank or pet pantry to distribute resources to your neighbors. Get plugged into something that interests you.
