LiftAffect was established in 2011 by Airline Pilot and Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor Matthew McNeil to assist professional flight crew with mental health concerns. LiftAffect offers counseling, coaching, professional advocacy, consultation, supervision, and Critical Incident Stress Management services to individuals throughout the aerospace community. LiftAffect also assi
sts individuals that suffer with a Fear of Flying. Whether your discomfort with flying is limited to mild anxiety before your flight, or your anxiety or fear prevents you from flying at all, LiftAffect can help you Overcome Your Fear of Flying. Fear of flying affects approximately 30 percent of the adult population. For some, flying causes temporary feelings of discomfort and uncertainty, while others may experience full-blown phobic reactions. These reactions can have devastating interpersonal, professional, and financial consequences. Luckily fear of flying is one of the most treatable psychological issues. Matt has been working independently with fearful fliers since 2007. He is a commercially rated pilot, FAA certified flight instructor, and licensed therapist in training. He holds graduate degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Aeronautical Science with specializations in Human Factors Psychology and Aviation Safety Systems, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Counseling Psychology. In 2011 Matt was invited by veteran aviation psychologist Dr. Michael Tomaro to co-facilitate his fear of flying treatment programs at Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport. Since 1988 Dr. Tomaro has run the only publicly funded fear of flying treatment program in the world.
