So, Government Day is over and I want to give a bit of a summary of what we asked our members of Congress this time.
1. Continued support for the Special Diabetes Program (SDP). SDP funded research has accelerated the development of the artificial pancreas systems, smart insulins, encapsulation and all other diabetes research.
2. Supporting bill HR 1427 to get Medicare to cover Continuous glucose monitors. Right now 95% of private insurance companies cover CGMs but Medicare does not. Type 1 Seniors tend to have more swings in their glucose than do the younger population so this IS a medical necessity and should be covered by Medicare!!!

Hi all, if anyone wants to volunteer at an amazing event, Rocky Mountain JDRF's Reach U Teach on June 21st, please let me know. We need the following volunteers:

· KidsKamp Shifts (Various times from 7:45AM – 1:00PM) – 10 Volunteers
· Parking/Directional Support (7:45AM – 9:30AM) – 4 Volunteers
· Set Up (7:30AM – 8:45AM) – 4 Volunteers
· Check-In Desk (7:45AM – 10:55AM) – 4 to 6 Volunteers
· Clean Up (12:00PM – 2:00PM) – 5 to 7 Volunteers

Just now!...The U.S. Senate approved a one-year extension of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP) as part of the 'Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014' (H.R. 4302). The President is expected to sign it into law shortly. You can email your Senators right now and thank them for their support. http://jdrf.org/senate Please share with your friends and family!
