One of the best lessons I ever learned:
If you don’t ask for what you need, you won’t get what you need.
This requires you to use your voice.
And many of us, me included, who grew up in dysfunctional family dynamics where we didn’t feel safe, where we didn’t have stability, etc… a lot of times just WON’T ask for what we need. We just don’t speak up.
Why?
Usually I find it’s rooted in a few different beliefs:
I don’t matter.
My needs aren’t important.
My needs won’t be met, even IF I ask.
No one cares.
Asking is selfish.
Communicating will upset others.
It’s my job to keep the peace, my silence will keep the peace.
If you can’t use your voice, do you know the story that keeps YOU silent?
I didn’t for a long time.
Now I know, but it took work.
The road to self understanding is simpler than you think.
It happens one moment at a time.
One moment of people pleasing.
One moment of not asking for what you need.
One moment of thinking you don’t want to be a bother.
One moment of thinking you don’t matter.
One moment of not being able to say “no.”
Each of these moments is an opportunity to understand yourself more. To understand your story, so that you can question it.
I am so grateful to have an entire set of tools that help me to recognize, examine, and then dismantle all my difficult and painful stories.
It’s called Acceptance Alchemy. It’s a collection of all the tools that have been shared with me for the last 25 years.
The course where I share all of it is called Relationship Alchemy. A 16 week journey to acceptance, forgiveness and HOPE.
Our next round of Relationship Alchemy starts on July 30th, and we have a few spots left.
You can join from anywhere in the world.
Change is simpler than you think.
And it starts with your story.
Hit me up. Let’s chat. A more empowered future is only weeks away.
