✨ January at Note to Self Nutrition ✨

Hello January — and hello again 💛 I’m excited to share that I’m officially back from maternity leave and slowly settling back into work at Note to Self Nutrition. This season feels especially meaningful as I balance new routines, renewed energy, and this work I love.

A few January updates I wanted to share:

🍳 Breakfast Recipe of the Month
Lately I’ve been loving an easy breakfast quiche—simple, flexible, and perfect for busy mornings. Bake once and enjoy all week (warm or cold!).

📚 Book Club Continues
Our book club is continuing into the new year! I’m really looking forward to reconnecting and creating space for thoughtful conversations around food, body image, and self-reflection.

📖 Coming Soon: New Blog
I have a few new blogs on the way, centered on transitions, nourishment in new seasons of life, and what gentle structure with food can look like.

🎓 Professional Update
I’ve officially submitted my CEDS certification application, a big milestone and an important step in my continued commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this past season. I’m so grateful to be back and excited for what’s ahead 💛

Getting some joyful movement in to survive the gray day! Movement hasn’t been existent let alone joyful postpartum since I’m still recovering from a c section. Which takes more than just 6 weeks (all my c section mamas am I right or am I right?). But today felt like a good day to take a walk around the neighborhood with baby girl and Pai. Happy mom, happy baby, happy doggo.

14/07/2025

All that’s left of your potential is that circle. An empty yolk sack. I’ve learned through my pregnancy journey that it is continuously enveloped in nuance. This was one of my first ultrasounds. 5 days prior I experienced cramping and bleeding and was told by my previous OB to wait until my scan the following week. 5 days spent going down rabbit holes on Reddit, googling all the questions swirling in my brain, sitting with the immense fear of whether or not my pregnancy was still viable. When my scan finally came I was told I had experienced a miscarriage (because yes, at five weeks it is still considered that) and I was also still pregnant with another baby. I had originally had twins, and now I had one. My initial reaction was relief. I was still grappling with the shock of getting pregnant in the first place, thinking it wouldn’t be possible for me or would take much longer - so the thought of twins was terrifying. And I had prepared myself to be told I was no longer pregnant, yet here I was with a healthy baby. As time has gone by grief has snuck in from time to time. Each time I see a video of someone excitedly finding out they’re pregnant - I grieve the fact that I didn’t have that experience. Each time I see a mom of twins I wonder what that would have been like, despite the fear and overwhelm. In some alternate reality we are living a beautiful life with twins- just not this one. Pregnancy has been hard in a number of ways. But it has been my authentic experience I feel called to share. There are little glimmers - seeing my husbands face light up at feeling our baby kick for the first time, laughing at our anatomy scan as our baby flipped us off without a care in the world, feeling so grateful as the moms in my community gave me hand me downs and items from their own kiddos. I’ve given myself permission to have a slew of emotions during this time. I haven’t shied away from the feelings that are uncomfortable and raw - I’ve let them exist without judgement. It’s okay if your pregnancy experience is different than you anticipated or wanted. It is valid regardless. And if this resonates with you please know you are not alone. 💖
