🎉 We are so excited to welcome Tara Mitchell Simmons to the Colorado AMTA team as our newest Chapter Delegate!

Since January 2022, Tara has been building a practice rooted in the belief that massage therapy can benefit people in every walk of life — from supporting elderly clients in improving their quality of life, to helping high school athletes perform and recover at their best.

Based in the beautiful community of Westcliffe, Colorado, Tara brings both passion and purpose to her work, and we're thrilled to have her voice representing Colorado members.

🚨 URGENT: Proposed Rule Could Threaten Massage Therapy Education 🚨

The U.S. Department of Education has proposed a rule that would impose a “Do-No-Harm” earnings test on postsecondary schools, limiting access to federal financial aid for massage therapy programs and putting up to 89% of aid-receiving schools at risk of closing.

While the intent is to protect students, this rule misses the mark for our profession. Massage therapy careers do not fit into a one-size-fits-all earnings model. Many therapists work part-time, are self-employed, or earn income through tips—factors this rule fails to consider.

What’s at stake?
1. Reduced access to education, especially for lower-income students
2. Massage school closures across the country
3. A significant decline in future massage therapists entering the workforce

✅ AMTA is taking action to protect access to massage education—but we need your voice.

Learn how you can make an impact today: https://bit.ly/434uJBQ

Submit your comments on the proposed rule to the Department of Education by May 20!

Let’s stand together to protect access to massage therapy education and ensure our profession is fairly represented. 💙
