October is breast cancer awareness month. I am a lucky survivor. But this month brings back all the things I went through and everyone’s story is different. This is from The NY Times article, Tanks and Teddy Bears, Ukrainian Children Paint the War. I also heard the interview on NPR. The children were so excited and honored that their art work and experiences were valued in this way. The art exhibit is at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago, and features art from children as young as 9 as well as teenage art students.
Art can speak a language that words simply cannot express. It is such a powerful way to process and externalize emotions and experiences.
