What does self-care look like when you’re constantly exposed to or witnessing overwhelm, stress, and hurt that impacts you personally and those around you? Liberatory self-care focuses not only on your mental well-being, but grounds you in soothing your nervous system and accessing empowerment.

These strategies can be practiced individually and within communities that bring a sense of safety and connectedness.

Have you ever tried to practice affirmations but it felt just not right? Often this can happen when we’re only acknowledging the empowerment and not the parts of us that make it challenging to believe is true.

If you relate to this, we invite you to practice some of these daily affirmations. They center on one learning to believe they are true in hopes of honoring who you are becoming and the parts of you that may still be trying to figure it out.

You are worthy of good things throughout your journey, not only when you reach the ideal spot. Try them out and let us know your thoughts! Take it one step further and share them with a friend!

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from su***de. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a su***de crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

We had our last team meeting for the year this week and we shared how proud we were as a team, but also how proud we were to truly work with and support students! As 2025 ends, we want you to know we are thankful for every student that comes through our doors and offers vulnerability and trust with your mental health. We don’t take it for granted and thoroughly enjoy working with you!

Remember, if you’re local during J-term break, we will be open and able to support you. Please give us a call at 515-216-5100.

We will begin accepting appointments for the Spring semester on January 21st.
