Today, Katey Rascon, Center Manager, and Melissa Roe, Recovery Coach, visited House of Mercy to share their powerful recovery stories in honor of Red Ribbon Week.

Both Katey and Melissa are proud graduates of the House of Mercy program, and they reflected on how their experiences there shaped their journeys to where they are today. Their stories offered recoverees a message of hope, inspiration, and resilience – a true testament to the power of recovery and community.

Anti-stigma against substance use means challenging the negative beliefs, labels, and judgments placed on people who use substances or are in recovery. Instead of viewing substance use as a moral failure, anti-stigma work helps people understand it as a complex health issue - one that deserves empathy, treatment, and support.

How can you help break the stigma against substance use?

💙Replacing shame with understanding.
💛Encouraging open, non-judgmental conversations.
💙Supporting recovery without blame.
💛Treating people with dignity, not discrimination.

Stigma can keep people from reaching out for help. But when we lead with compassion, we create a community where healing is possible - and no one has to walk that path alone!

Full Circle Recovery staff are participating in the 2nd Annual Region 7 Peer Summit in Kansas City. Peers and professionals from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa, are gathering over two days to unite with a shared vision of hope, healing, and transformation, while supporting people in recovery!
