Our Meals on Wheels team had a blast at Athene’s Ducktona 500 duck race during their annual United Way celebration!

We were honored to be the featured nonprofit for the event and are grateful for Athene’s generous gift of time and resources in support of our mission.

This year alone, Athene team members have delivered more than 200 meals and contributed 178 volunteer hours to Meals on Wheels!

United Way Day of Action is in full swing across Central Iowa, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful! Huge thanks to the amazing volunteers from Athene who joined us both today and last week to support Meals on Wheels.

From lending a hand in our Hydroponic Farm to delivering 107 meals to neighbors in need, Athene team members truly embodied the spirit of giving back. Your time and energy are making a real difference in our community — thank you!

At WesleyLife, our commitment to making an impact doesn’t stop at our walls. WesleyLife Meals on Wheels was represented today at the Iowa PBS “Be My Neighbor” event in Johnston, with attendees stopping by to write uplifting notes to be delivered to Meals on Wheels clients. We are proud to have a work study student, Meghan, organizing a variety of intergenerational projects this academic year for both Meals on Wheels clients and the general public. Today we launched a four-session series of “Generations Over Lunch” to foster connection and conversation among generations. This series is support through Drake University’s Community Engaged Learning office and features four faculty, one leading each session.
