ITS NOT ABOUT A BOUNCE BACK

I contemplated even posting this. Because it’s not about rushing to bounce back to where you were before. I will never be where I was before, and I have no craving to be. I will always be scared, and stretched, and softer. But I am freaking STRONGER.

Pregnancy, healed my relationship with my body. Although I trained and ate fairly well (my pregnancy sweet tooth was ravenous), I still gained 55lb during my pregnancy. Well over the recommended 25-35. However, this is your reminder that your body does what it needs to do. Women’s bodies are miraculous. Beyond having control of what you put in your body and how often you move, the rest is up to biology. You’re growing a freaking human being, stop obsessing over the number on the scale. You will feel good in your own skin again soon.

I didn’t crash diet, I continued to fuel myself, I nursed my baby, I moved my body to feel good, and I took breaks when exercise became a stressor vs benefiting me (in the depths of sleep deprivation). And my body healed in the timeframe it needed.

This is not to compare yourself to anyone out there. But a little reminder that if you’re in the thick of worrying about your pregnancy weight gain, PLEASE DONT. It’s all by design.

LETS TALK ABOUT P**P 💩

I’ve got 99 problems and my gut health fixed them all.

Yes, your skin, your hormones, your fatigue, your brain fog, your lack of sleep, your immune system, your nutrient deficiencies, your food sensitivities, your allergies, your weight, your metabolism, your heart, your mood … ALL OF IT.

But please don’t do gut protocols blindly without knowing and understanding exactly what your body needs and what you are taking. You can do more harm than good.

Correcting gut issues is a delicate dance that takes time, has different phases, requires different approaches, and is more than just taking supplements.

Just a couple of my postpartum meals served mostly in bed.

✅ High Protein
✅ Complex Carbs
✅ Healthy Fats
✅ Fresh Fruit or Vegetable

Avocado, eggs, sourdough, soups, grassfed butter, protein shakes, organ meats, raw cheese, dates, EVOO, berries on repeat.

I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH ✨

We cannot regulate your cortisol or get your body out of “fight or flight” without lifestyle changes.

Your hormones tell a story! And that story is about how you have been living your life. How you have been nourishing yourself, resting, moving, and managing your stress.

It took you years to get to a point of imbalance, it will take some time and work to get things back on track, to repair the damage. Supplements alone CANNOT do this. You MUST adjust your lifestyle and diet ALSO.

If you want to function better you need to look beyond the macronutrients in your food ✨

I GET IT! Macros can be VERY beneficial when attempting to gain muscle, lose fat, balance blood sugar, and eat a balanced meal. I’m ALL for it!

BUT I can create a meal with the same macros using all processed, low quality, nutrient poor foods. Which is why it is important to look beyond just your macronutrients. It’s micronutrients, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, fiber, etc that make your body function; heal your gut, produce energy, balance your hormones, clear your skin, run your detoxification pathways, etc.
