The EASIEST way to add more protein to your diet?

Add more of your lean proteins to each meal. This curry typically calls for just a few shrimp so we tire in a halibut flier to bump things up up.

When we think of cutting calories, never cut your proteins--instead eat more of them at each meal to ensure you're getting enough and maintaining lean muscle.

Life update.

I haven't posted for a while to social because life has been plain old overwhelming.

And chances are, if you're a mom, in her 40s who also has a ton of competing priorities, you feel the overwhelm too.

A few years ago I wouldn't have bothered with continuing to follow a plan--I would have thrown in the towel if I couldn't do it perfectly and not do it at all.

Now I know that consistency is key--and it definitely doesn't look like viral Instagram posts.

It's:
πŸ“Œ walking daily for physical and mental health
πŸ“Œ planning high protein and fiber rich meals so I'm not scrambling each night when it's already chaotic
πŸ“Œ fitting in 3-4 shorter, but still effective strength training sessions
πŸ“Œ continuing to prioritize my sleep and anything else that fills my cup

These are the non-negotiable ESPECIALLY when life gets lifey. You don't need the latest supplement or new workout program. You need consistency with the small stuff.

Don't get me wrong, they can, but they definitely don't need to.

Instead, I encourage you to think about your habits. What can you do on a consistent basis that will make you feel your best AND help you achieve and overarching goal?

Instead of focusing on pounds lost---think about strength workouts tracked, protein consumed, fiber prioritized and ensuring you get plenty of rest so your body is working at its best.

What is one habit you'll work on this month?

Personally, I'm prioritizing my own workout programming this month. I neglected it during a busy fall and I'm ready to get back to prioritizing my own time dedicated to my brain and body.

If you find yourself out of the normal programming this week, I highly encourage you to look at it as a blessing in disguise. Do what feels good for you in this moment--not what you feel like you HAVE to do. We got plenty of time for that. Happy Christmas πŸŽ…

I feel like this is a great week to share my wall of quotes with you.

There are days where I feel like I'm not meeting expectations, the overwhelm of parenting and life kick in or I just don't do the things I know my body appreciates. I'm human too. And I don't know of any one human that wakes up motivated every day. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

So here's my wall of quotes that I started recently, the pick-me-ups, that often serve as a great reminder as I start or struggle to finish the last bit.

I encourage you to find some space for a wall too. Because you're awesome, powerful and strong, but sometimes you have to remind yourself of it.
