A JOURNEY OF WRITING, FIRST STARTED SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN I EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PERSONNAL LOSSES AND HEARTACHES OF RELATIONSHIPS THAT ENDED ABRUPTLY. WRITING MY THOUGHTS INTO POEMS BECAME MY WAY TO COPE WITH EVERYTHING. I’VE SURVIVED CHILDHOOD ABUSE, SEXUAL ABUSE, DOMESTIC ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS, CHEATING RELATIONSHIPS AND SO MUCH MORE. I STAR

TED WRITING AT THE AGE OF 12 IN A GROUP HOME CALLED FOREST RIDGE IN ESTHERVILLE, IOWA. TO DEAL WITH THE STRESSES OF BEING AWAY FROM MY FAMILY IN IOWA. THE STORIES AND THOUGHTS I WROTE BACK THEN ARE LONG GONE, BUT I NEVER GAVE UP WRITING. WRITING TO ME BECAME THERAPY. AS YOU READ THROUGH MY MANY POEMS, I HOPE YOU CAN RELATE TO ONE OR MANY. I CAN ONLY HOPE IT WILL BRING YOU SOME KIND OF CLOSURE TO THE PAIN, HURT THAT YOU MAY HAVE ENDURED IN LIFE. AND KNOW THAT NO MATTER WHAT, WE ARE ALL A CHILD OF OUR FATHER AND CREATOR JESUS!

I met an amazing lady recently at the downtown farmers market that showed me how to publish my poems.

Hey everyone,

I know I haven't posted anything this year. I promise you that I have been busy with working on the homeless situation, it takes a village to stand up and say something. I learned a lot from my friend Jody who passed away in 2019. I still find myself talking to him like he's still here. In the past couple of years, we lost several people that Jody and I camped with either front cancer, other health problems or drug addiction. I will keep fighting for our homeless and others that need a voice.

I have been a busy beaver this summer writing poems and advocating for our homeless and those with mental health diagnosis. I lost my best friend on Dec 3, 2022, Leonna was my bunk mate at the homeless shelter here in Des Moines. 5 years of our friendship was great, I know she's in a much better place with her parents. I miss her but I know she's always near, like my mom, grandma's and other homeless friends who gained their wings. Working on new poems related to homelessness right now.
