If you haven't read the Caring Bridge in a few days, yesterday was a big day!

Today was a big day! Laura got moved out of CCU and also we found out she was approved for the Select Specialty Hospital (a hospital where she can rehab that is within Mercy Hospital)!

As of 4:00 today she has been moved to the 4th floor at Mercy Main. Here she will be able to continue to get her PT, OT and Speech therapy while also receiving dialysis.

They also briefly put a valve on her trach to work on her speech. This is only done minimally while her vocal cords heal. I wasn't present while they did this, but her nurse mentioned that the inflamation in her vocal cords has decreased over the last couple of days.

We continue see her personality shine through with her smiles and facial expressions.

This page will post updates from the CaringBridge page as well as be our hub for supporting Laura, Tony and Jude. Many have asked how they can help and what needs to be done. Unfortunately, there is so much that is not known yet and even more that time will help us learn. Until we do that, we will wait, pray, plan and support.

Things we will potentially look to all of you who love Laura for:

- Prayers, good vibes, positive intentions---However you can send into the universe to help Laura heal and guide the hands and brains of the medical teams working on her care. Do it as often as you think of her and put her on any prayer list or care and concern wall you can find. She needs the strength of each of us to come through this.

- Expertise, each person has different skills that will come in handy. If you are an expert in anything from fundraising to networking to bake sales to kidney donation--we need all the help we can get.

- Ideas. Ideas for fundraisers if we need to have them, ideas for ways to help out the family, ideas to find a kidney for Laura when the time comes. Much of the close family is just trying to get through each day. It will be up to those of us who can spare the bandwidth to carry the torch so they can focus on surviving.

- Financial support. This part is in the works but there is a high likelihood that Laura and her family will need pocketbook help in the future. Keep her in mind in the coming days as we figure out more about what the future looks like.

If you made it this far. Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring and loving Laura. She is an amazing person and one of the most good and kind people I've ever met.
