Dr. Adam Miller recently provided free skin cancer screenings for 20 individuals at John Stoddard Cancer Center, helping our community take an important step in protecting their health.

If you see a mole or spot that looks different, is changing or just doesn’t seem right, don’t ignore it — reach out to your health care provider. Annual skin exams are recommended to catch potential issues early!

Congratulations to our latest ROSE Award winner, Darrah C., PCT, from Powell 3 at IMMC who was nominated by a team member for owning the moment during a critical patient situation. 🌹

“Darrah had worked an overnight shift with a heavy patient load. It was the beginning of shift change, and nurses were getting report. A patient needed to be cleaned up and Darrah took it upon herself to help this patient before going home. Darrah knew immediately something was not right and called for help. When the doctors and nurses arrived, she promptly explained the situation. A staff assist was started and with Darrah’s help, we were able to act quickly. Although the outcome was not what we hoped, Darrah’s use of critical thinking skills helped a patient get the appropriate resources in a timely manner.”

Way to go, Darrah!

Katie Goetsch, CMD, is a dosimetrist and a valued member of your trusted care team at Stoddard Cancer Center! As a medical dosimetrist, Katie does the behind the scenes work with designing the radiation treatment plans. Her team uses imaging and computer software to determine the best way to deliver radiation. Their goal is to deliver adequate dose to the tumor while minimizing dose to important organs and surrounding tissue.

The EMPOWER Salon offers haircuts, skin care, nail appointments and more, all free of charge thanks to the generosity of donors. 💇‍♀️ 💅

Cancer patients often face changes in appearance due to treatment, and these salon services support patients through those changes, providing much needed care. 🩵
