Lip filler is a slippery slope. It is often overdone, migrated, and an injector continues to add more instead of correcting. It is the injectors job to tell the patient when something doesn’t look right and educate them on why. Luckily, we can correct these cases by dissolving and refilling, but it is a slow process that takes trust. In the end it is so worth it. Find yourself an injector that you trust from the beginning. This is why you shouldn’t be price shopping for injections. It is your face, and it is an art.

Filler migration happens all too commonly for various reasons (injector inexperience, depth of injection, technique, history of previous migration, etc). In this beauty, we see that lip filler placed over 2 years ago has migrated above her vermilion lip to create a puffy “white mustache”, which looks unnatural, and in some cases begins to look duck-like or ape-like. Dissolving migrated or poorly placed filler is a process that requires trust and patience, but in the end, the results are totally worth it, and oh so natural.
