Integrity Encompassed is a business dedicated to promoting and modeling a “Person Centered Approach” in all modalities of the organization. Person Centered language often appears within the context of World, National and Statewide service delivery systems for people with disabilities, which can sometimes be confused with the “Person Centered Approach” . The Members of Integrity Encompassed are individuals who have not only been trained in “Person Centered Approach” but embrace the values within that way of being and working with others. Those values include:
• A belief that all human beings have it within themselves to make positive changes in their lives when supported by people who:
• Are Empathic: Set aside their judgments and own experiences to be able to truly hear what another person’s experience may be.
• Works in a manner in which the supported person does not feel Judged
• Are Honest with people that they encounter without judging them. This includes being someone who is able to take responsibility for their own “buttons” or areas that they continue to “work on” in their personal lives. Being honest does not mean having to give all of the details. The Members of Integrity Encompassed endeavor to be, act and promote “person centered” services as well as are committed to the ongoing development of all staff to continue to learn and grow both personally and professionally. To truly be “Person Centered” requires dedication from the providers to constantly grow as individuals and professionals. The managing members of Integrity Encompassed are both members of the Center for Studies of the Person, a worldwide organization incorporated in 1968 by Psychologist Carl Rodgers and a number of his colleagues from Western Behavioral Sciences Center in La Jolla California. Both Keddie and Gary are dedicated to providing ongoing training and support to staff, family and individuals based on the Person Centered Approach. This is particularly valuable when working with individuals with cognitive disabilities. Mental health services worldwide have moved toward “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” which is often not effective when working with a person with a cognitive differences. It has become a preferred means of therapy due to its goal oriented process, making it a more cost effective way of providing services. Unfortunately this methodology limits and often eliminates these kinds of support services for individuals with cognitive disabilities. Members of Integrity Encompassed are:
